Were you around when XP came out? Remember all the problems, updates, issues, security breaches it had?

Remember getting rid of all your 95/98 software, games, video cards, etc?

That is what Vista is gonna repeat. It will make you get all new stuff, cause you new issues, etc.

XP works, it is finally fixed to work and it is based on NT, the first windows. Well NT is all we need, hence why XP and now Vista is based on it. Vista is just a dressed up XP to look more like Apple's operating system, nothing more.

I personally plan on fighting Vista as long as I can as it is only a marketing ploy for Microsoft to gain more money. No different than the marketing schemes done for 95, 98, ME, 2000.

Go to the link "the eloquent one" gave you in her answer and check it out. There are a lot of requirements for Vista and if it is like XP, you will need more than those basic requirements when you receive the first service pack correcting mistakes in Vista. By time you get service pack 2 , you will probably need almost double the basic requirements. Check it out good as they may be setting you up with a second "buy" to fix the first.

My answer is no!! I am an IT Tech and since Vista started being sold by Newegg and others a few days ago, the phone has barely stopped ringing. As another poster said, remember when XP came out??

Many people's printers do not work, no Vista drivers. Programs they used on XP, some will not work on Vista, and the list goes on. The latest is not the greatest as some think!!!

Not a chance, unless you have already researched the hardware requirements for Vista and know that this hardware will run Vista optimally.

We already know Vista requires more advanced video card. I don't know what else.

No, I'd wait for a while until I'm sure the computer I buy is 100% Vista optimized.

I would get the upgrade. It's a new PC that you will likely have for several years at least, and Vista will become the standard PC operating system over that time.

Yes, I have applied for the upgrade, they send you a disc,so apply for it and don't install it until you've looked at feedback about it i.e. on yahoo or the internet,if they have offered this upgrade for your new pc it confirms that your pc is compatible with windows vista.

I think you should take it, just remember that the Vista needs 512MB free, so it's up to you. If you need more details just search for the windows Vista requirements.

Make sure you have the other items that are required for Vista.
I think I read where you need dual Core capability or something like that. If you are buying it from Circuit City, etc. have them install it so if you have problems, you'll have someone to fall back on for service.

Check this (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/systemrequirements.mspx) out to see if your new computer meets the basic requirements, and if it does, I personally would take the upgrade, because free's free, and it isn't like you have to go out and fork over the cash for a new OS three weeks after you buy your new computer.
