Divide the total by the tax rate plus 1.
For example if the rate is 7.25% (.0725) then divide by 1.0725

Do you know your tax rate? Where I live, it is 6% sales tax here. Some other counties are 7% or higher.

If your tax rate is 6%, simply take the grand total on your receipt and divide it by 1.06 --this will give you the original amount for the item(s) before the tax was added. Then, just subtract this amount from the grand total amount to find the tax you were charged.

If your tax rate is 7%, divide by 1.07, etc...

Hope you figure it out.

Take the total and divide it by 1 + the sales tax rate. That result will be your total before the sales tax. Your total minus that result will be the sales tax.

If the tax amount is 10% then your total amount paid would equal 110% and you would take your total amount divide it by 110 and multiply by 10 in order to find out the tax in dollars.
Substitute the 10% with your actual tax rate in your state.

you need to know what the tax rate is. say it's 5% and your purchase price is $50.00 you take the 50.00 and times is by .05 and it will give you $2.50 which is your tax, your total bill will be $52.50
If your tax is 9% times it by .09
If your tax is 8% times it by .08 and so forth and so on

In precis, a hundred% unique cost + 6% tax --> $418.ninety one Your question asks the unique cost, that's a hundred%, and that's what you're able to locate. So, 106% --> $418.ninety one a million% --> $(418.ninety one / 106) a hundred% --> $(418.ninety one / 6) * a hundred = $395.20 (to the closest cents)
