Cocaine affects everyone the same, higher aged people generally have a harder time adapting to the damage.

Cocaine acts as an external source of dopamine for the brain. Dopamine is a type of neurotransmitter within the brain. It is a special chemical that is responsible for certain brain activy, and therefore proper bodily functions. Dopamine is a precursor, or early form, of adrenalin and nor-adrenaline. It's crucial for the body to have it in proper amounts, in order for it to have biochemical regulation.

When the drug is taken, the body gets a tremendous boost of energy and a feeling of great euphoria.

The body, however, feels that, in a moment of error, it has made a mistake in it's release of such high amounts of this chemical. The body does the only thing that it feels is appropriate...it shuts off further production of dopamine.

Once the body runs out of its external supply, the body is starved for this needed chemical. The body will need to begin production again, but this takes time. The body will create an immense craving for more of the external source, as to guarantee its proper regulation of brain chemistry.

This is the mechanism that paves the way for addiction. The body can never supply the intensity that one gets from a drug.

(The level of intensity does a good deal of damage to the brain cells, I might add. This is not to mention the damage it does to the structure of the nasal passages, or the lungs, or whatever the port of entry might be.)

The body keeps adapting to high amounts of dopamine levels while having its own dopamine production shut off. The body creates a severe tendency towards finding outside sources of this chemical. The brain builds behavior to try and support a consistant environment for itself.

It is shown that the low you get from running out of coke, far surpasses the high you get from using it. When we don't have any more cocaine to go around, the body chemistry suffers and the brain goes into a depressive state.

Have you ever heard of an addict that doesn't have a level of depression and despiration in their behavior. You can't help but suffer if you screw with the regulation of the body's brain chemistry. The awful part of it, is its done for "recreation."

The worst of the damage from use is felt long after the present withdrawal. The long term affects show up in brain function years after a person has partied hard with the stuff.

Cocaine is a chemical (cocaine hydrochloride) that affects the operation of the Central Neverous System (brain) by altering its electrochemical ativity. It acts as a chemical messenger which instructs neurons in the CNS to release its stores of another chemical messenger, dopamine, causing an excess of that chemical which excites the CNS resulting in a sensation of intense well-being ... pleasure.

This is its effect it has on the CNS of anyone who uses this substance, regardless of age or gender.

Cocaine is delivered to the CNS throught the blood stream. This delivery may be acheived by injecting liquid cocaine, snorting a powered form of the drug, or by inhaling a smokable form of cocaine called crack.

There are significant differences in the response to cocaine excitement depending on the method of delivery. The faster the delivery (crack cocaine) the more immediate and intense is the response due to the fact that the body delivers blood oxygenated blood from the lungs directly to the brain. Powdered cocaine is significantly slower in delivery because it must pass through the mucus membranes in the nasal cavities to enter the blood stream which must travel through the heart, then to the lungs and on to the brain.

There is an inverse correlation between the method of delivery and the length of time that the effects are experienced. The high of crack cocaine, for instance, has an accelerated duration compared to powdered cocaine.

Once the chemical has been completely metabolized, the pleasurable effect of cocaine dissipates. Unfortunately, this is when the CNS experiences a lack of dopamine in the stores of the neurons causing a depressed state. Individuals who choose to use cocaine often experience this state of depression psychologically. To relieve this depression they may continue to use cocaine to replace the loss of pleasure with the effects of the drug by using more cocaine.

There is then a cycle of use, excitement of the CNS, feelings of pleasure, depression of the CNS, feelings of depression and treatment of CNS depression with a reengagement of the use of the drug. This is offten described as addiction. The cycle of addiction is often the result of the choice to use cocaine.

This is how cocaine works on most people regardless of their age, gender, etc. However, there are many other areas of the lives of people that are effected that depend on the development of the brain.

Teenagers brains are in a process of development that cause differences in response to the drug. If use is discontinued relatively soon, the developing brain of the teenager shows a remarkable tendency recover from the negative effects of the drug.

I do not know that there is a difference for males or females.

haha, well it's good that you're atleast doing research before you start (if you do). I can only tell you a little off my head so i'll spread my knowledge. It pretty much melts your brain. My friend a few days ago during school had a seizure because shes been doing too much coke.

I wouldn't recommend it, but i have no control.

The same way it effects users aged 18 and above. It kills your brain cells resulting in severe, lasting, effects. Including memory loss, loss of motor function, lack of growing, nasel destruction, and personality changes.

It can also be more expensive.

They can't resist it. This is one of the main problems because they just keep using it, thinking of it as air that they need to have in order to survive.
