Both sides lose as both have a nuke force big enough to destroy each other. The missile defense system can only stop a few missiles if it really works at all. the Chinese are also building sub launched ballistic missiles for there new class of Boomer. This will allow them to launch from a direction that wouldn't be harassed by the missile defense system at all. So in the Final analysis it is suicide to attack China.

USA. Those using the Iraq war aren't seeing the difference between a Guerilla war & all out face to face war. With Iraq we just over threw the government & are fighting a political war which can get complicated especially when you are kept on a short leash by rules & regulation. In the case of China we would be fighting not only the govenment but also the people.

China is almost completely dependent on the USA economically. essentially they are are leaches on the USA. Look to Japan in WW2 when the USA cut them off economically. they suffered & it caused them to loose the war because the couldn't resupply.

China's large army is laughable because half of the millitary contains cheap guns that wouldn't work well in most conditions & are outdated by 30 years. The airforce (although the second biggest) is composed mostly of upgraded soviet aircraft that is, again, outdated. The missle technology is also far far outdated even with the recent missle test in outspace.

Last but not least the pure size of the millitary is what will make them loose. I the USA isn't supporting China then they will be unable to keep their army intact.

More than anything it would be a war of economics & technology both of which the USA could be independent of China.

China would win. Although US has more technology, and China has more people. Due to the constant fighting in this century already. Another campaign in China would defeat the US internally. No one would support another war and the US would be forced to retreat. It would take a much more popular (not better) president to convince America that a war in China was necessary. Another factor in a war with China is nuclear power. It could be over really quick if some one made a preemptive launch of nuclear warheads.

The United States would never fight a war against China. However, speaking purely hypothetically, in a war between the United States, and China the US easily takes the cake. The US has the largest economy on earth with a GDP of 18 trillion compared to china's 12 trillion. Despite popular belief, even after subtracting debts, the United States total assets are valued higher than any other nation. China comes in sixth after the United States, Japan, The UK, Germany, and Italy. The United States spends more on their military than all other nations combined. This is in addition to already possessing the largest Air Force, Navy, and in terms of soldiers with actual combat training, the largest army. In no scenario would China ever win a war against the United States! (Unless of course they obtain some kind of alien weaponry, or have Chuck Norris on their side.) I'm sorry! I had to.

China - in the long run, because China is so big and has so many people, and they own so much of the USA already, not to mention what would happen if China wanted the US to pay all the money back that it borrowed and is borrowing (off budget, course) to pay for the Iraq war.

The US might be able to win short-term because it has nukes, but the damage to the Earth by such a move would eventually cause the US harm, too.

With Nukes unpredictable-without nukes China could takeover Usa. Heck, if Nazi Germany had fought Usa alone Germany would have won. The Germans dominated the Americans in battles in ww2.

Ok people were's the pride. If Chine invaded us we would win hands down. I would fight for my country any day and I hope to think you all would too. If for some stupid reason (like if democrates took over) we invaded them we would lose. It's all most impossible to win a war when we are on someone else's own turf. We all ready won the war in Iraq we just have to finish it. Suddam is gone and we occupy their country. It will only take a matter of time before we finish.

Right now? USA easy. Another 4-8 yrs of the Dems in office would make it a close war... If it got really nasty I'm sure our Allies would join in and seal the victory. No one really likes China... As a matter of fact alot of people would like to see the Chinese Commies ROT IN HELL! The ROC is good but the PRC is bad... FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS!

That's a tough one, I would have to say the US due to more advanced technology and a more stable infrastructure. But I don't see the US and China going at it anytime soon, we have way too many common interests in trade and finance to risk it. You would be hard pressed to find something that doesn't say "made in china" and they would be financially devastated without American markets and investors.

China, because either it would have to go nuclear which would cause Russia to declare war on us and we would be destroyed, or the threat of Russia would PREVENT us from going nuclear which means a conventional war, and China vastly outnumbers the USA.
