The 10 commandments were the basis for the Mosaic Law. While its a good idea to follow there principles you are no longer under that law. However you are commanded to practice the greatest two laws found at Mathew 22:36-40

Ok so what about the other 603 commandments? If you're going to point out the 10 words given to Moshe on Sinai, then you have to follow the other 603 given as well.

The 10 commandments are not in effect anymore. They were part of the old law which was nailed to the cross with Christ. Now, under the new law 9/10 are reiterrated. The only one that isnt is "Remember the sabbath and keep it holy".

wow you sure did get some pretty ****** up questions. The ten commandmets are the catholics way of controling people. dont obey them ,you go to hell, the whole shabang. Nothing really happens whether you follow them or not. Heck you dont even has to believe in God if you dont want to. Yes God and Satan are real, so are alot of other things that the church has dismissed as myths. like the classics, werewolves and vampires, and alot more things than that. What this says is that if you want to rule an empire, you rule be fear and by fear alone, otherwise they will rebel. thats what the catholic church did, made up te ten commandmets, turned jesus into a hero, and made the world a simple place while they racked in the money and slept with the women. its up to you, and your beliefs what to do. once you dead, your dead and you cant pe tortured when your dead.

nothing from not keeping them, you will go to hell though for not being saved. If you break one commandment , it is the same as breaking them all because they all go together, kinda like a contract or anything. If you are a christian, you will keep the commandments, but if you break one and ask for forgiveness, God will forgive you.

You are obligated to keep them. It is God's command (that's why they're called commandments), and Jesus affirms this. If you don't keep God's command then you set yourself against Him which will lead you to one place, and you should already know the answer to that.

God forgives you, if you ask for it. There is no sin so great that God can't forgive it. All that condemnation and hellfire is the Old Law. Jesus brought the New Law: love and foregiveness.
