It has a nutty taste to me. I buy thin asparagus (the thicker ones are tough)

Hard to describe the taste but it can be "slimy" if not prepared properly. You must wash it very carefully. It's hard to get under those triangular scales. When I have company I scrape each stalk with a parer and remove those triangles. Then I sometimes steam it in the microwave for about 4 minutes or stir fry in a bit of oil. They also can be boiled in a few inches of water for about 5 minutes. Serve with butter if you wish, or sprinkle with some assorted herbs.

It tastes like asparagus. There isn't anything else quite like it. Steam it or roast it in the oven. Delicious. Here are some fancier recipes for preparing asparagus

It's yummy! One great way to cook asparagus is to marinate in Italian dressing, wrap in tinfoil and cook it on a grill.
You can boil it, and add butter when serving, that's good, too.
I often cut it up and mix in it and bake with scalloped potatoes.

Asparagus should be steamed for five minutes and then eaten with just salt and black pepper and real better.
It should not be messed around with too much in my opinion.
