Ok guys: please no judgment. I'm a 23 yo who made a horrible mistake and was convicted of DUI. the PO's office and the Alcohol program are dictating that I abstain from alcohol from now until November 30th (9 months)

I work in sales--half my job is going out, drinking, socializing with clients. If I know I could be tested at any time, my career may suffer. SO:::

What's the most potent/likely test version they'll use if I'm dragged in for a random alcohol test? How long will it stay in my system?

Well I suppose this was not the place to come so as not to be judged. I was asking for a straightforward answer to my question, maybe I'll clarify:
*What type of test is likely to be randomly administered?
*What type of time window would I need to get it out of my system?

I am not talking about risking another DUI, that would be stupid, I'm talking about the necessity of going 9 months without one beer.

I work in a major city and don't have to drive. That's not the question. Another DUI for me is out of the question, I wouldn't be that stupid and irresponsible.

Thanks Deb's Mom, the alcohol education case manager would actually be the one calling me in for a test. I don't know if she would really care enough to call me in for a test outside of business hours (they are government employees after all)

I myself am subject to random alcohol testing, and am a whiskey drinker. What I've done in the past is go at least 8 hours, and DRINK PLENTY OF WATER! (Drinking a large glass of water also helps the morning after hang-over...as well as flush the alcohol out of your system. Hope this helps. ( I also do not drive ) and oh yeah, you will have the pee in a cup test, I believe, although they take awhile to get results back. You will need to do the same things I mentioned above ~ if you must do the dreaded breathalyser < ( I hit spell check, and it implied that breathalyser is spelled correctly!)
It sure doesn't look correct to me!! Hopefully if you get called in ( is it the Probation Dept?) you will have gone hours "without", and when you get called, just drink your water, and walk in with a smile :-) P.S. The reason I am able to go at least 8 hours is because my random urines happen at work, which is where I go in the mornings. If I'm out drinking the night before,
I stop early, go home ~ eat ~ drink a large water before bed ~ wake up in the middle of the night "because I drank too much water before bed", drink another glass of water, and go back to sleep!

It is all dependant on a person.

In this day and age, I think that going out with a client and socializing can be done without the consumption of alcohol. There are too many people that don't drink now days. I think that if you chose to consume something other than alcohol, you would be fine, and your job would not be in jeopardy. If someone gives you a hard time, tell the client that you just recently had been sick, and are now on medication and until you are done with the medication, you can't drink any alcohol (it is the truth. . .).

I think you are the safest just not drinking until your 9 months is up. If you can't go 9 months without drinking alcohol, I think that clients are the least of your problems - and AA may be in your future. If you're not an alcoholic, then you can go 9 months without alcohol.

For every oz of alcohol beverage it take about 1 1/2 hour to leave you system from the time of the LAST drink! 6 drinks 9 hours. only time will dissipate alcoholic. about 3% through breath and about 2% Thur urine, sweat, tears If you are 23 and cant stop drinking you need some help. Using your Job as an excuse is just that and excuse.I handled 17 fatalities in my career and over half were alcoholic related, and the drunk was in most cases injured the least. It was the poor snook that wound up dead because of drunk drivers. get help and maybe save a life. If you want to keep drinking and driving how about this find a back road void of any traffic and run your car into a tree and save us all aggravation.

I am not judging you...I am giving you some sage advice, they can do these tests randomly, you said that yourself....they could walk into a bar you at and test you and then you are really screwed,,,,,
YOu can go out with coworkers etc and have a tonic water, seriously, this has already burned you...
Just don't drink for a while...c'mon it is not worth it....!!!
Good luck, every body makes mistakes, but when you don't learn from them you will do it again...

This isn't a judgment in my opinion but you may think differently...

If you HAVE to drink with your clients, you aren't a very good salesman. You probably are so I would suggest giving yourself some credit. You CAN make a sale, and manage the relationships without drinking. If that seems impossible to you then you likely have a bigger problem on your hands - alcohol dependency.

if you made a horrible mstake the first time why do it again? go to aa meetings and find out why you have to drink? if its about the job; start looking for another job at best buy or an advertising agency, you do not have to drink to get people to like you. You can be who you want to be, have a little faith in yourself, god does!!!!!!!!

You burn a beer an hour. If you have one beer, theoretically, in one hour its gone. Why don't you drink a Dr Pepper or have a virgin? You don't have to drink alcohol to be good at your job. If you violate your probation or get another DUI, you are going to go to jail.

Unless you wake up drunk and go straight in for a test you'll be fine. I passed a test a night after drinking with just a couple hours and a few bottles of water.

It doesn't even matter though, even our president has DUI's. No one cares besides your PO and random overly religous housewives that have no effect on your life. Party on you go-getter you!
