I am relieved that I am not the only one who thinks this way.
I believe than Iran and the Shiites in the Middle East are already trying to gain control of Lebannon through Hezbollah, and Iran has been playing the Shia against the Sunni for a while now. There is nothing Iran would love more than for the U.S. to pull out of Iraq.
If we leave, every Iraqi that cooperated with the Coalition will be murdered along with their families, and they know it. Then you have an oil rich nation under the control of radical fundamentals like Iran, and no Western Nation will be safe. Israel will be alone among vipers.

We aren't going to "win." The Iraqi people will win if the fighting stops. They will finally have control of their country. Also as for us being led by Islamic Law- I'm not even close to worried about that. That area has always been a hot spot for war, and will continue to be. The history, and behaviors and society are what keep all the groups in the Middle East fighting. It is almost bred into them. If we pull out- I really don't think it would hurt anything. They would just have to sort out their own mess, and it would take longer. Remember Saddam was the first guy to really bring the country together- if you can call it that. Even the news today was talking about how it becoming another Vietnam as there is really no decisive military victories, and no clear mission to US citizens. Any which way that you look at it though- it is a mess.

But win what? We've already killed or been responsible for the killing of thousands of Iraqis. Islamic Law you say? It will never happen. What will happen is that while there will be more and more people converting to Islam, the conversions will not reach epidemic levels. It will reach out and 'pull in' the disenfranchised, as it is doing now. But hopefully our government will soon realize that it must take care of its OWN. Doing so will effectively encourage our OWN to remain in the mainstream, a country filled with freedom-loving, justice-minded, kind, understanding, compassionate strong-minded people determined to keep our values intact!
And yes we should leave Iraq. We should allow these people to govern their own. But "if we leave there will be civil war" you say. Well there already is you see. Maliki has already told our president that he does not have enough or the proper kind of weapons. He has already asked Bush to provide them for his country. He has indicated that he and his military can take care of their own security without the U.S. And I believe they can. I also believe that this government has purposely withheld what Maliki needs in order to bring security to HIS country. Why? It's simple. Because the U.S. had no intentions of ever leaving Iraq.
There is nothing the Iraqis would lke more than for the U.S. to get out of THEIR country. Isnrael doesn't and shouldn't have anything at all to do with Iraq. Unfortunately the US and other foreign countries are unaware of the relationship between Iraq and Iran, But then Maliki has already shown the US that he really has no interest in making Iran another enemy. Nothing much has changed since ancient days. These two countries fight each other, take a break for lunch, perhaps even talk to each other, and then return later to fight each other again. Advise Condi that it is way past time for her to become familiar with the ways of the ancients in Mesopotamia and surrounding. Her knowledge of the Soviet notwithstanding, has little value in the an understanding of the instant conflicts of the Middle East.

This country will neer live under Islamic Law. The people of this country are way to strong to ever let something like that happen. There will be another civil war before we allow our government to abandon democracy. Like the answer above if we do not finish this we will more than likely be attacked again and probably end up there a third time in the future. THAT is why we need to stay there and get this crapt done with.

First of all do you have any idea of what Islam is all about? If you read the english version of the Koran you will see that "the jihad" is a personal war with the self, to be a better person ...nothing to do with terrorism. There is no such thing as Islamic law.
We cant make people do something they dont want to do, we can never eliminate their way of life nor should we, We can give them democracy and I fully support that.

frankly, i just don't understand the basis of your belief.
since iraq had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks or the larger war on terror - i just don't see your statements as even partially logical.
if we REDEPLOY the troops, the whole idea would be to put them where they are NEEDED TO FIGHT THE WAR ON TERROR, which they are not doing right now.
meaning we would send a lot more to afganistan and hopefully some to regions of pakistan and saudi arabia.
i really think that america has grown beyond this simplistic view of the war on terror and that the failed policies and decisions regarding iraq are the only way that this can be done.
simply put, your statements make no sense...

I'd say you're wrong the new way of thinking that is being developed in Iraq is "We were better off with Saddam". People's friends and family have been killed. Men's fathers and sons have been humiliated.
If we leave, it will be bad. If we stay it will be bad. Those are the options.

the Iraqis don't want to impose their way of life on us, they just want to be left alone!
Unfortunately, they live on top of the 4th largest oil deposit in the world, so America and England won't leave them alone and let them run their country as they see fit!
Anyway, why do you want to cram your views down their throats - apparently, you don't want to live under Islamic law, so why do you want to force them at gunpoint to live under American law!!
That's why the insurgents are fighting America!!!
