I know someone who has been a permanent resident of the US for 50 years. She will not become a citizen because she does not like the ways of the US. She trashes the US. What do you think of that.

She says that her family is here. However, sometimes she just ticks me off when her anti-american sentiment. I say don't complain if you can't vote.

Actually, I don't think you should become an American unless your first loyalty is to America above any other country. Having people who consider their first loyalty to a different country vote on our laws seems like a built in conflict of interest to me. I realize that the requirements have been relaxed to allow dual citizenship, but they didn't ask me before they did that.

Why not, they do almost everything that a citizen does. They work, pay taxes, own homes, cars and everything else. The only thing they can't do is vote or get benefits from the gov.
If they do not want to that is also okay. It is up to them.

I think thats her right. Many dont want to lose citizenship to their home countries and that is their choice. That is what residency is all about. I dont think we should require anyone to become a citizen.

sponsorship, status or money, the us wont just let anybody in, they want to be sure that you wont just come in, and use their resources, without giving back a little (as with any country) aside from that, you're outta luck edit{ why the importance of a small town, there are dozens of tiny towns, with populations of hundreds or less, its not a good way to go, unless you've got other plans, id recommend alaska, they've got plenty of small towns}

If they want to BE an American. If they just want to be here for the cash flow, I wish they wouldn't. But, at least they took the trouble to follow the laws, which is more than alot of people do.
