I have horizontal and vertical nipple piercings.
The only one that really hurt was my left vertical piercing, but other than that...it wasn't too bad but I have a high pain tolerance. (all four were NOT done at the same time, I have had the horizontals for 4 year and the verts for 2)
Mine have never been infected and healed very well and very quickly. But I take excellent care of my piercings and hope that the people I pierce do the same.
Main things to know:
Even the best of piercers can screw up nipple piercings. Even if they are done slightly in a bad position or depth, they can migrate, reject or never fully heal. Research your piercer well and know that the jewelry they use can add to whether or not the piercings heal or reject.
Always wear a clean shirt/bra for the first 2-3 months (even while you sleep for the first 1-2 months depending on personal comfort). I found that cutting a panty liner and using this inside a bra help keep germs, blood and lymph from ruining clothing and collecting in the fibers which will increase risk for infection. And its cheaper and easier to change and remove then washing your bras everyday.
Sea salt soaks are wonderful for these piercings.

Do not play with them! Its tempting, but playing will them will cause issues including rejection, migration and infection. You should only be touching them when you clean them and your hands should be clean.
Just take care of them and never be afraid to go to your piercer with problems and concerns. Good luck.

Dont know if they hurt or get infected but guys sure do like them if they keep the nipples hard. Guys love hard nipples!

It was the most painful piercing I EVER got, but I loved the outcome. I was pierced with a 14g hollow needle in both and wore rings for the first 2 months, as with rings they tend to heal faster. They were VERY tender and uncomfortable for about a month, but it seemed like one morning they just stopped hurting.
My downfall with them was lace bras. Captive bead rings love to get caught in them, as to straight and curved barbells. It helps to either have a padded bra or one with a smooth cup, but if you're like me and lace is all you have, then you have to get crafty. I tried nursing pads and those circular cotton pads, but it got too bothersome and I took them out.
Just a note, i've had my ears (lobe), nose, septum, tongue, lip, nipples, and a VCH done and as I said, nipples were the most painful.

NIpples are the most painful piercing, ouch. Mine took FOREVER to heal and I had to go to the doc 3 x. It has been 4 years and my nipple still leaks... argh

Mine were tender for the 1st 4 weeks and I had to sleep with a tshirt on to keep them from moving around. The piercing itself was a lot less painful than I thought it was going to be. The 1st one pinched, the 2nd one I did not even feel because i was not tensed and ready for it. I have had no problems with mine as I have followed my piercer's directions and kept them clean. My BF LOVES them.

no not really not untill a couple of days after the fact and then you cant wear tight clothing and dont bump anyting against them... Most men find them attractive. And they do get indfected easily.

yea i think it looks good on both sexes...
just make sure u have them done professionally and check around to make sure it's a clean environment.
it depends... becuase my friend did it and she actually enjoyed the feeling of gettin it pierced.. them my other friend said it hurt.
i think if the piercer is a good 1then pain won't be that bad
you do kno, however, that you're not supposed to breast feed if u get your nipples pierced. not just whn you pierce it... but ever

My friend had hers pierced and they did hurt, not to mention the infection that followed. They came close to having to amputate the nipple itself! DON'T DO IT! Can you imagine having pierced nipples when you're 80 yrs. old - when your breasts are hanging down to your waist? Makes me sick to think about it.

OMG!! Disgusting! How could any guy find something as gross as that attractive? Piercings should be kept to ears only, one or two. Foul!!!
