Start with a nice top shelf whiskey, like Gentleman Jack. And if you absolutely must mix it with anything, mix it with about 2-3 ice cubes. Anything else is just ruining good whiskey.
FYI...Southen Comfort is NOT whiskey.

Coke is always a winner. If you've got some good whiskey (Jack, Crown, Woodford) I like it on the rocks or with water. Jack is the stiffest and Crown is the smoothest; Woodford is a good medium. Mixing it with water hydrates you and is healtier (no cals or carbs)

Try a Manhattan, it's a martini made with wiskey and Sweet Vermouth
Also warm or steamed milk and a bit of sugar
Hot tea, lemon and honey

ive never tried to mix whiskey with fruity flavors, but try Dr. Pepper, thats my favorite with brandy, so its gotta be good with whiskey

Try spending your dollars on really good irish whiskey....like 16 year old jameson's.....and drink it straight....or bushmills....nothing short of 12 year old. it's well worth the money.
