Port is a wine that has had the fermentation stopped by the addition of brandy. This will leave the wine both sweet (6-10% sugar) and highly alcoholic (18-21%). Port is usually consumed after dinner or sometimes with stronger cheeses. I make both dry wines and port professionally.

Wine is just fremented grape juice. Port is a foritified wine, meaning that "nutral grape spirits" (unaged brandy) has been added, origanaly to make shipping it by sail boat easier.
