I haven't had a problem with this for a long time. But now, I've got 3 major pimples and bums on my face. You can include home remedies as well as over the counter meds.

Hi,

You can try the following remedies ( from http://www.grannymed.com/Meds/Acne.aspx ) :

1. Cook oatmeal and apply on face for fifteen minutes, then wash.
2. Make a warm bath with blanch of nettle and rosemary to reduce the acne.
3. Apply equal amount of lemon juice and rose water with a cotton ball, leave for half an hour and wash. Repeat for 15-20 days.
4. Rub the acne with garlic cloves several times a day.
Wash face with avocado paste mixed with water.

Good luck

I too have dealt with mild acne. I personally have found Proactiv to be most helpful. If used as directed, the results are fairly rapid. Apart from removing acne, Proactiv fades scars and tightens pores to create a very smooth and healthy-looking skin surface. Its not as harsh as similar products and may greatly enhance your skin's appearance.

Though Proactiv is my personal favorite, a combination of treatments can greatly reduce the amount and severity of acne in many cases. Two popular methods of acne clearing include exfoliating and the use of topical bactericidals containing benzoyl peroxide.

You can exfoliate by using a mildly abrasive cloth, a liquid scrub, or using common chemical exfoliating agents such as salicylic acid and glycolic acid. Exfoliation removes the top layer of the skin to prevent a build-up of dead skin cells which combine with skin oil and block pores. It helps to unblock already clogged pores and can assist in acne reduction.

Since your suffering from fairly mild acne, over the counter bactericidal products containing benzoyl peroxide could be helpful. Rub a gel or cream containing benzoyl peroxide twice daily into the pores over the affected region, or use a bar soap or wash containing the substance. Benzoyl peroxide dissolves the keratin plugging pores and prevents new scars by killing propionibacterium which can cause acne. (If you choose to go this route, you may want to use a moisterizer as, depending on the texture of your skin, dryness or redness may occur.)

Here are two links that may come in handy:

- Proactiv® Solution
http://www.proactiv.com/

- Apricot Scrub (you could try the Medicated Apricot Scrub for Acne-Prone Skin)

Good luck.

I hear proactive is good but, it doesn't work for everyone. The best way I find is to clean with peroxiode and then follow up with witch hazel.

Peroxide will kill the bacteria
and witch hazel will lessen the reddness.
