If the mugging was over and the attacker was leaving, I would tend to the victim. However if the attack was in progress, the mugger would not know what has got a hold of them.
BTW, yes anyone that would engage an agressor would be foolish. I am just foolish in that way.

If the person is being mugged at gunpoint, it won't do you any good to try to help them, all you can do is be a good witness. Get the height, weight, hair color, type of clothing, which way they went, were they walking? Driving? what kind of car? license plate number? Get all the details you can and then call the cops and give them all the information. If you try to help right then, you might get shot and then what? It is better to help by just giving the police the information and letting them handle it.

I saw someone get mugged but not at gunpoint. My Dad moved us all into a mission in the heart of downtown when I was 10 yrs old He was the director of it.My sister and I saw 10 crimes a night out our bedroom window. It was like watching a weird crime reality tv show. They always happened so fast we could not call the cops and we realized noone wanted the cops around. Not even the victims.

It would be a difficult task to disarm a mugger with a gun and might end up getting us both shot. I would immediately call the police, though, and try and give them a description of the mugger as best as you can. If the mugger doesn't shoot or harm the person, and then he runs away, you then should approach the person (cautiously) and ask if they are okay. Ask them to wait for the cops.
I say cautiously because the victim might think you are another mugger or the mugger come back.
Unfortunately, if the victim was shot, there's not much you can do except use any first aid you might be trained in. Make sure the cops now there needs to be an ambulance.

Anybody other then a trained police officer that answers yes,is a complete fool. A cop knows that if a bandit is bold enough to have a gun chances are he will use it. he might hesitate to shoot at a cop because there is a chance he might get shot, and all criminals are lowlife cowards.but he would shot a citizen in a NY minute. And even sometimes the best action for a cop is to do nothing but observe. The badge is not bulletproof

Most definitely, but that is my type of personality. I wouldn't care if they have a gun or not. If that persons life is in danger, I would do anything to get them out of danger. Some police officers say don't get involved, and I agree with that. It would be very dangerous to try and get involved. Not only could he shoot the guy getting mugged, but you as well. If you are not going to get involved, it would be best to call the police and give a good description of the mugger from head to toe and be sure to tell them which way they went. And be sure to check and make sure the person is alright once the mugging is complete.
But, like I said before, I would help because that is my personality, I love to protect people, and that is why I'm becoming a police officer.

The best thing you could do is call the police, you could get yourself and the victim shot and make things worse get a good description of him and anything that may help.If you had a gun that would be another matter,if you knew how to use it,I may just shoot the hood and walk away and tell no body ,it depends on a lot of things

A policeman will tell promptly tell you, if you ask him or her the same question, to not do anything.
Think about it. There is a gun. What would you say if you interfere, "Excuse me- hello- excuse me- but that is NOT nice, Mr mugger".
Take his picture if you have a cell phone camera, as you call 9-1-1

Absolutely. I always carry my gun off duty. I would confront the bad guy, and if he didn't do exactly what I told him, I would protect my life and the life of the victim. I would like to hope that he would drop the gun and surrender, but we all know that probably isn't going to be the response.

I would do what I felt would result in the lowest likelihood of an innocent person getting killed or injured.
