may i just start by saying theres no such thing as used oxygen, lol, blood is made up of 4 main components amongst other minor components.
1 red blood cells have a high surface area and the function is to carry oxygen to the all muscles and a large percentage of carbon dioxide away from the muscles
2 white blood cells are designed to fight infection by literally ingesting any bacteria or any nasties that happen to be in the blood
3 platelets are a mesh shaped molecule that help the blood to clot, they bind together and create a barrier which hardens to form a scab
4 plasma is what makes most of the blood, its a bass for all the red and white blood cells and platelets, but it also helps carry the proteins that are found in our blood

blood carries white blood cells around the body to fight off infection and rid the human body of foreign bodies such as splinters, blood also carries red blood cells that stop you from bleeding to death if you cut yourself. the blood also carries oxygen to the heart via the veins and also carries junk such as used oxygen, fats etc away from the heart via the arteries. blood also carries things throughout the body such as fats, water, salts vitamins etc.
