no offense, miami ink is a great show, but kat vond isnt one of the best artists, probibly the best on the show, but i was referring nationally lol

This question is soooo subjective. I mean....people just gush over Kat Von D ......come on people....she is an average artist at best. The one thing she shines at is portraits..... and I can think of 10 artists off the top of my head who do better portraits. To me a good artist should be well versed in all styles. Nikko Hurtado may be one of the leading "portrait" artists out there...... but can he do me an bio-mechanical sleeve...... I think not. For my money Judy Parker's underwater scenes are as good if not better than Mike Parson....... To me a really good artist would be someone who is competent in more that one style.
Some one who is competent enough to do a realistic portrait of your grandpa from a photo and then turn around and do a really sick, twisted, horror sleeve down your arm and then maybe do a real classic Frazetta on your back. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE BEST TATTOO ARTIST IN THE WORLD. However there are lots and lots of very good, competent artists out there.
PS Ok its day later and I have to tell you I was wrong. There IS a best tattoo artist in the world his name is Pavel and he is a Russian working out of Moscow.

I agree that is the most beautiful art work I have seen, I love the underwater stuff as well. Very talented artist. I still like the tatoo artist that did my two the best, but thats my bias. I wouldnt mind getting a dolphin seen on my back from him though. Afraid of the price though!!! LOL Tampa, FL too bad my sister doesnt live there anymore, then I might have been able to get one by him. Good luck hon, if you are getting a tatoo!

he is definitely a wonderful artist. i would gladly get a tattoo from him. his mark ryden is great! the thing that makes his tattoos look so good i think is his use of white to hilite and create depth.
i also enjoy nikko hurtado from ignition tattoo in apple valley california. you should check out his work.

"Best" is subjective. The guy does do beautiful work, though.
