Religion is responsible for so many evils over the course of time it is easy to say yes ban it. but it is also the reason we have the good in society. We are brainwashed from birth that it is right to pay taxes, respect others, sacrifice for the well being of other, etc. Where would society truly be today if we did not have these crazy religions to bring some sort of order to our chaotic world.

Unfortunately there has been a lot of bloodshed and violence between religious opponets. There are only a few religions that are exempt from this today.
However, without religion I think we would still find something to spill blood over. Many times what seems like a "religious" struggle has many other underlying issues.
One of the things that people who believe that the world would be better without the idea of religion fail to recognize the immense good that has come from religion. The large amount of humanitarian aide. The improvement of socities, cultures, families, and personal well being has all occured because of various religions. In fact I would argue that the number of people who have experienced a blessing from a religion FAR OUTWEIGHT the number of people who have died in the name of a religion. However, I do admit that it would be extremely difficult to actually quantify the number of people/socities that have benefited in direct response to a religion.

I think if religion was banned people would find something else to talk, argue and shout about regardless of the amount of innocent people who've lost their lives along the way.
Human nature is to quiz, but then human nature is also to get onto the defensive about sensitive subjects (their religious beliefs). If religion was banned culture and traditions of certain places would get more of a bashing than religion.
Plus religion is one of the oldest things around. It may not be "an oldie but a goodie" to all but for some who choose to practise a peaceful religion (which is what all religions are in my humble opinion until weirdo's hijack them for their own doings) their religion is a part of them, its a part of their identity.

first, to have a debate about the worth of religion, we must define it:religion - people's beliefs and opinions concerning the existence, nature, and worship of a deity or deities, and divine involvement in the universe and human life.
how could one organization and/or government do this effectively? it would be literally imposible. it has been tried though, at least in a minor sense of the phrase. in ancient Rome, the government attempted to ban Christianity, and instead of destroying it, this action actually strengthened the Christians, increasing their numbers miraculously (i might add that the bible tells us that this would happen: God works most noticably during those times). the death of others in the name of a religion is not a result of the religion itself, but of those who have taken it and used it as an excuse for violence. you cannot blame murder on a belief, but on those who distort it.

On what foundation might you prefer to prohibit the burkha. because of the fact it is generally used by way of criminals and terrorist? Sounds logical, perhaps what's going to take place if a sequence of unlucky killings take place on a hindu pageant the place human beings wearing costumes. Will You ask it to be bannned too. Beacsue lots of those terrotists come from non secular colleges will you prefer to prohibit them too. I admit Burkha are historic and should no longer extremely join society. Banning burkha isn't a answer in any respect. perhaps india ought to have the comparable regulation for certainly everybody. i comprehend india has 2 gadgets of regulations governing muslim and the the remainder of india.they ought to artwork on that. everybody is afraid to the touch this subject rely because of the extensive vote casting inhabitants. India seems on the remarkable song. lots of investment is going into coaching. that's going to take time to comprehend what those investments will return. and females do ought to take off their veils at airpots. I even have seen guards asking the ladies to realize this.and that they oblige. perhaps a answer may be to have a burkha that purely covers the top. i think of even the muslim community will locate it suitable.

I suspect that if religion were banned, (by whom, one wonders, and on what authority?) people would still continue to find things to believe in. Since people do not have the same experience of the world, those beliefs would differ from person to person. People of like beliefs would tend to congregate, since we have a tendency to seek out people who believe as we do. Once the congregations of believers reached a significant number, they would begin to oppose each other, in keeping with the notion that what I believe is true, and what you believe must therefore be false.
My people might come to believe that one should break one's egg on the big end, while your people prefer the little end. Wars could be justified by governments eager to seize resources by dehumanizing the "Bigendians" or "Littlendians." (See Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels.")
I suspect we'd be pretty much the same, with or without religion, and since religion does much good for many people, I would not be inclined to ban it.

Yes, many people died because of religion. Most colonisers of Africa used the bible (religion) to conquer the natives. The second world war was a direct result of clash of religions. The middle-east conflict is centred on religion. The terror that is gripping the world is fuel by religion. Hatred that is playing itself on this very forum is about religions.
Yes, the world will be better place without religion.

The question isn't even the existence or religion. Take away religion but don't give people a reason or ability for critical thought and they'll just find something else to do the thinking for them and you're right back where you started.
Everyone needs to develop the ability to think.

I don't think religion should be banned anymore than any other academic subject should be banned. I do, however, think the world would be a better place if people actually studied religions and philosophies rather than simply regurgitating one-line brainless propaganda slogans whenever their beliefs are questioned.

No I don't. And I'm an atheist. Some people need religion in their lives. Sometimes that is all people have. Banning religion would just be wrong.
