Maybe you should take out sometime for just you and her to relax and have fun sometimes kids get tired of all the yellin you can still discipline her and have fun with her. Give her some of your free time.

She does sound very intelligent, you are playing right into her game by the sounds. No offense! You need to either ignore her actions or put your foot down and let her know you are not putting up with it anymore. She's gaining control at 5 think what it will be like in another 5 years. Good Luck!

After you tell her something, make her repeat it to you.... where are you going to put it? and when she does it... praise her for it.
She may not be paying attention. i have a 13 yr old that occassionally does the same thing... they seem to be listening but their minds are somewhere else.
Sometimes just too many distractions cause them to forget where they are going on the way there... If she puts it in the fridge and not in the sink, calmly point it out.. where did you put your bowl? where were you supposed to put it? Very good(after she corrects her mistake) She is 5, don't start yelling till they are 13 and doing it. lol

She is very intelligent and playing games with you, she's a clever little girl. Just be firm, speak in a low tone voice and explain to her that what she is doing is not good behaviour, and ask her to complete the task properly or (then insert your "consequence" here, for example, "if you do not do what I am asking, there will be no TV tonight" or whatever it is that she likes doing) you have to stick to your word and carry out the punishment or she will feel like she has won.

lol. That would drive me nuts. Sounds like if you are getting mad she is feeling in control of you. That is a good feeling for a 5 year old that doesn't have a lot of control over her life. I would stay calm.. show no emotion and say '1'. Next time, no emotion, matter of fact '2'... and then on three she gets a time out. No emotion.. but to be to hard on her.. that is funny and very creative.. she is smart

it's just kids being kids. My 5 year old does stuff like that too. Or if I ask him to do something, he pretends he doesn't hear me. Usually, I just let him know that if he doesn't do it correctly then I'll take a privledge away. Like tv or outside play, and then he usually shapes up. Think it's a pain now, wait untill they become teenagers and really don't listen! LOL!

She's just playing with you. She's a jokester. Ask her "does that look like the sink to you?" She's just having fun. My five year old does it all the time. My daughter pretends to do sign language. I tell her I don't understand sign language.

Maybe she is just trying to have a bit of fun, sounds like you need to lighten up! I couldn't imagine screaming at a 5 year old for something like that!

just keep your cool,my guess is she is doing this to push your buttons, bad attention is better than no attention at all, i have a six year old that does the same things, when i am around him he cant do anything, but while i am away at work and when he is with his step mom,he is smart as a whip
