Is that a misdemeanor? You can usually work out a payment plan, like a hospital bill or something. I'm not an attorney, sorry, but I am also pretty sure that it's your car making the one-hitter your responsibility, even if, say, it was left there by accident.
I doubt that an empty one-hitter's going to set off too many warning signs down at the station (always wanted to say "down at the station"). And how would your grandson ever know? Pay the ticket, pretend you've learned some sort of lesson about the whole unfortunate affair and stash that badboy in a more clever spot next time.
The last thing you want to do is raise a ruckus over a popshot, you know? Pay it and move on.

I'd plead guilty and pay the fine.It would be short and sweet, since the pipe was in your car, you aren't going to get off the charges. Where I live if you get arrested for anything other than Public drunkenness, your name goes in the newspaper in a section called the A.M. authority. If that happens in your neck of the woods, people already know.
I have to ask this though, what is a 55 year old woman doing running around with people who use one-hitters? Haven't you out grown this by now?

You are responsible for the contents of your vehicle. Many lawyers offer free consultations. Call a bunch and get some opinions.

Seems to me that you got a ticket and NOT arrested. Pay the fine and forget about it. It is not classified as a misd or a felony. It is a summonsable violation.....you got hit with possession because it was in your car and you are in control of your car.

Possesion of drug paraphernalia.....
As everyone else, call an attorney in your area. You are responsilbe for anything in that car. It's a shame, but it happens. I hope all of this doesn't hurt your record. I don't think it's a felony, but get some information before you go in front of that judge.

Hubby went through same type charge, judge granted continuance and he went to a free legal counsel service here in town. Your town may have the same type thing, it is free or very cheap. Good Luck.

how about you own up to what you did and accept the consequences for your actions and then your 17yrd old grandson, can learn from you what not to do. You can turn this into a learning experience for him and in the same token show him that the right thing to do is to own up to what you have done and the consequences there of.
