I have a daughter who has used the excuse of my funeral on 3 different occasions-with 3 different employers- to be able to come home for family events. When I ask her how she got the time off, she responds with a grin, "I killed you off again". I tell her it isn't funny and someday a boss will want an obiturary notice.

Never had an excuse that was not genuine. MY last job is was in for 29 years I started with 2 weeks for German measles but they paid me anyway. Had two weeks off in 1990 to have what was left of my fibia removed from my stump and then maybe a couple of odd days for cold.. And that was about it

the best excuss is closest to the truth, thats the funny thing you know Im myself in management and also have worked under people and really you dont need to make up an excuss. If you are really just feeling tired and lazy and thats why you dont want to go just call your boss and tell him look I really dont feel well lately and Im tired and run down and I really could use a day off to recharge my batteries, tell them you preform better when your rested and that it would be mutually beneficial.

The cool thing about my job, is that I don't have to come up with any excuses. I just tell them I'm not coming in. They wont ever ask why.
