I have a large square coffee table that I want to do something decorative to. It is painted an ugly yellow at the moment, so I wanted to sand it and repaint it. Does anyone have any CREATIVE suggestions? I considered crackling or faux finishing, but nothing has jumped out at me yet.

A cool thing would be to make a random collage out of foreign newspapers, bits of sheet music, old postcards, etc. and then varnish it.

You could sand or strip the yellow off, or even use it for a base coat for another treatment. I don't know what room you are using it in and what the other decorations are like, but you could make it beachy by putting some sea grass rope around the edge or legs, or you could upholster the top with some batting and a nice fabric, making it not only your coffee table but another place to sit if necessary. You could build a rail on the edges making it like a box and fill it with memories or sand and hermit crabs! There are so many options. Really it would all have to go on what you already have, unless you plan on changing up things. Hope this helps

i think you should paint or spray paint it maybe a brown color, then varnish it. And maybe get a glass frame about the size of it and bolt it on.
