If you need to be flexible as to when you check in, don't book online. Call each one until you find one that will hold your room until a certain time. Most places will hold your room for a few hours with a deposit. As long as they are getting their money, most of them don't mind you coming in a bit late. Check in times are mainly to keep people from arriving at 9 a.m. and expecting their rooms to be ready.

Check in is the earliest time ( no sooner than 3pm). This gives them time to clean the room and have it ready for you.
Your check out time, will be no later than (not after 11 am).
If you are going to be arriving very late, like after 8 pm, you should call and inform them that you will be a late check-in, so they don't give away your room after a certain time.

Check-in time refers to the earliest time you can be there for the room to be ready. Some establishments also have a late check-in time-- the time you must be there before your room is given away (unless guarateed with a credit card). Since it is a b&b (a little more intimate), I would check with the owner to make sure that you can enter the establishment at the time you expect to arrive (if it will be late).

Not really, I have gone to hotels before that have a check-in time of 2:00, but they will let me in if the room is clean at 11:00.

Reserve it on a credit card and guarantee a late check in. The 3pm time you were given is when check in starts, and your room may not be ready if you arrive earlier!

3:00 pm is the earliest that you can check in. If you confirm the reservation, and make some payment, most reputable b&b's will hold your room till whenever.
If you can tell them what time you expect to be there, then it will be a big help to them

You can usually check in earlier or later. If you need to check in earlier, ust call them and explain the situation, they will hold your bags for you while you go sight-seeing. If you need to check in later, just call them and tell them the time you will check in. If you don't call at all and come in much later, they might give your room away. Good Luck.

You have wiggle room. The check in is a guideline. As long as you guarantee your reservation for late check in you have no problem.

No, check in time is the earliest you can check in. However, if you are going to be much later than that, it is recommended that you let them know, so they don't think you are a no show, and give your room away.

that's the earliest you can check in
"check-out time" is the latest you can check out
If you're going to be later than 8 p.m. checking in, I would contact the B&B and let them know.
