You are absolutely right. In Genesis, God tells Adam and Eve to become fruitful and to fill the earth. Again, God told that to Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!
And at 1 Corinthians 6:9,10 God says that "men who lie with men" or women for that matter, will not inherit his kingdom. So homosexuality is going against God's purpose for the earth, and therefore wrong in his eyes and the eyes of true Christians.
There is no possible way to explain homosexuality in a way that would be acceptable by God. He created man and woman for a reason, and that reason was just as you stated, to fill the earth.
I truly wish you the best in your quest for the answer.

Procreation is one of the "purposes of life". God commanded that for man in the garden, along with work. (Sex and work are often the two things which most define the identity of a male). But it is not the ultimate or only purpose to life. Otherwise infertile couples would have no "purpose" in life. Nor would singles - yet singleness was a state that Paul praised in the scriptures.
There is more involved in the Christian faith's objection to homosexuality then just the lack of procreation.

Your logic in the statement is sound, but is based on the questionable premise that you know what God wants and that is for man to procreate. I've never heard of God's word put so simplistically and if understanding the almighty were that easy, forget homosexuality, why do Jews, Muslims, Christians, Protestants, etc. believe different things?

I wouldn't say that procreation was God's sole purpose for us on Earth. I think of that as just one of the many things he blessed us with--the ability to create life. So no, I would not say homosexuality is wrong based on that. I mean, there are plenty of heterosexual men and women who aren't able to conceive either. That doesn't mean they're doomed in God's eyes. And what about people like Oprah Winfrey who just choose not to have children? Do you really think God looks down on her for that, despite whatever other good she's done for the world? Or how about abusive or drug-addicted parents, who create life but then don't protect it? Are those people still just fine in God's eyes just because they procreated? Doubt it. So yeah, that argument against homosexuality is flimsy at best.

If you look past that fact that homosexuality is scripturally wrong, fornication is also wrong. So either way, they are still committing a wrong.
It was God's purpose for man to procreate, although it would not be a sin if someone cannot have children or do not want to have children. Many have dedicated their lives to serve God and put him first in lieu of having a family. Would they not have God's approval?
God does not make someone infertile. That is a birth defect. We're imperfect, do you think God makes someone blind or deaf? Birth defects happen, sometime due to the parents, sometimes somethings just not right.
God also has nothing to do with someone being homosexual. That can be due to molesting as a child, lack of a father figure,
or just lust & sexual appetite. Sometime birth defect, born with both sexes.
People can do and be whatever they want, it just doesn't mean they have God's approval.

Our purpose on earth is not just to procreate, but to learn to love one another. Procreation is just one of God's commands, one which most of us are happy to fulfil. However, as has been demonstrated in laboratories, rats turn to homosexuality when faced with overpopulation. Something similar may be happening in modern cities. I suspect it's a natural safety valve. It's perfectly possible to have too much of a good thing! That's why I classify homosexuality as a sin, but no better or worse than any other sin, like gluttony or gossip, for example.

Okay. First, good question; a lot of people wonder about this.
1) I think possibly you use the word purpose a bit loosely. God gave us the ability to reproduce, and commanded us to (be fruitful and multiply-Genesis), within the bounds of wedlock. However, He gave each individual person a special purpose in life, which is why we have gifts, talents, etc.
2) If you go with what I just said, then technically being gay/lesbian/bi isn't wrong. But it is. Even though sometimes I feel bad for people who are persecuted because of it, especially when it seems like they just really can't help it, it's still wrong. The biggest thing in the Bible about homosexuality that I see is the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Does that word look familiar? It's the root of sodomy, which is, well, you know. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah were gay. They wanted to Sodomize the angels that God sent to rescue Lot (intriguing story really, in the Old Testament).
3) How do I explain homosexuality? That, my dear, is the result of sin. When sin entered the world, it was Pandora's Box. That ancient myth is extremely close to the truth. Adam and Eve (and thus all mankind) eat forbidden fruit, after God specifically told them not to! Just like a five-year old, you know? That first bite let all the evils of the world into the perfect Garden. Disease, Hatred, Lust, Jealousy, Killing and Death, and, although you wouldn't think it, Mutation. Think about it. If gay people really can't help it, then there must be a missing/extra/deformed piece in their chemical makeup, or in their brains. (And like you, I mean no offense to anyone.) So, my theory is that God did NOT create homosexuality, nor does He MAKE peoplethat way. Because of sin, there are problems in the world. The same way a baby can be born with Down's Syndrome, a person can be born gay.
I guess my answer would be, yes it is wrong. But the reason in your question wouldn't be the first that jumps to mind.

If you believe that God said that, then I would have to agree that for you homosexuality is wrong. Not every one believes alike. However, people do have this rather amazing ability to rationalize whatever it is they want to rationalize. Logic plays no part in it. Only wishful thinking. And even this is rationalized, in that they don't admit (especially to themselves) that they are rationalizing. This is true not just with this issue, but others as well. A side comment, there are environmental pressures that may be contributing to the increase in homosexuality. It has been seen that fish are becoming feminized, losing male parts, due to pollution. It doesn't take much of a stretch to believe that these pollutants, not to mention hormones in meat and milk, may be affecting the fetus and even the children in similar ways. Whether one believes it is sinful to have a certain sexual bent if such bent is caused by physical factors is purely an individual decision.

I think you should be more concerned with the 'is God is real. question.
Because a lot of people are offended by groups of people telling them what they should or should not be doing, and citing it is the will of some fantasy alien that must be obeyed.
Think this over.................
God wants us to go forth and procreate so that's why priests are not allowed to marry.
Thou shalt not kill, how many have been righteously slain in the name of the lord?
You see religion is one great big pile of hypocrisy.
Why do various faith groups find it necessary to interfere in personal relationships and seek to dictate what we can and cannot do in our private lives.
When we do not agree, or do not follow the dictates of these faith groups the hate starts.
Always from those whose mantra is peace, love, harmony, and forgiveness.
Their are 6 billion people on this planet, we have had a fair share of homosexuals since recorded history began, but we still seem to have done a great job of going forth and multiplying.
So how has being Gay made any difference to 'Gods plan'.
All it does is offer hate figures to unite faith groups behind.

We don't have a 'Purpose' on this Earth... But if you want a purpose, it is to be good to everyone and treat them as you would wish to be treated yourself. IFand only IF homosexuality is wrong then it will up to God to decide and deal with, not us lowly hairless apes trudging along from day to day on this mudball of a planet. If 2 people love each other, regardless of gender, then more power to them, because none of us should be alone in this world. Remember, the Bible should be used as a guide book, NOT as an exact blueprint for life. It may be the word of God, but it sure as heck is not in his handwriting. It has been written and rewritten, translated into this language and back into another, and filtered through whatever perspective was in charge during its day.
You've all seen the horrible war bumper sticker, "Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out"... well, we should definately para-phrase it and say this about people.. be them, homosexuals, Catholics, red-heads, or Oprah fans...
LOVE THEM ALL, LET GOD SORT THEM OUT

This is what I think. Homosexuality is sin. Just like many other sins. We are all sinners even if we accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior we still are sinners. So, no matter what you do, say or how you act sin is still a factor. No judgement, just stating the fact. To know sin and no the word of God, and never repent of that sin we will surely go to hell. I thank God everyday for giving us his son for salvation. Thats the only way straight gay or other wise any of us will have a chance at reaching his kingdom. Recieving Jesus, believing what was done for us all that day on the cross, repenting of our sins and trying to live a christ like life. It's all hard, but we have to keep on keeping on. Well, I got off track, here, homosexuality is here for a reason. It does not mean you are a bad person, it's just that some people feel differently than others. I don't think there is a good answer for you question. God loves us all. He knows we have a free will, because he gave that to us. Procreate if you will. But be married. Live the best life you can and pray for help always. Accepting Jesus is your salvation in any case. Just my personal opinion.
