I am Here in Iraq and I am amazed at the foolishness of those back Home. I think 1/3 believe it was an inside job,1/3 do not realize that even though Iraq started out as a UN mission it has NOW become the focus for the terrorists. THEY all now come here! I have seen the bodies of Somalians, Saudi's, Iranians and Malaysians and perhaps a few from the states as well. IT may not have started as war ON terror BUT it is NOW. I am from NJ and If you are a REDNECK as that fool says then God Bless the South and welcome Brother!!!

The American people have the shortest memory known to man! This is why political leaders will put forth their most unpopular decrees right after an election, such as giving themselves and city councils pay raises. The theory is simple: the American voter has a short memory and the anger over this will dissipate, by the next election.
Then there is the Hollywood mentality amongst the voting public. The average American spends entirely too much time listening to Hollywood, or watching their movies. Why the average Joe can go watch a war movie, and in three hours the fight has been fought and the war won. And you want these same people to accept the idea that a war will last longer than twelve months, or more than six people will die?
I don't have the data on WWII, but when one aircraft carrier or battle ship went down at sea, over three thousand personnel went down with that ship, and many went down over the coarse of four years. Just one of those ships is equivelent to all the troops lost in both Afghanistan and Iraq. I use this example not to say that human life isn't sacred, but in war time sacrifies are made, sometimes the supreme sacfifice.
Don't think for a minute, this is a war of poor judgement. It is only to the standpoint that civilians have been making the call and not military personnel. It is from the standpoint that we are not fighting in the manner that wins wars. As hard as it is to accept, it's carpet bombing like in Dresden, or bombs dropped on places like Hiroshima and Nagasaki that win wars. The leaner and meaner and more ruthless we can become, is what will bring this damned thing to it's natural conclusion. If we don't do it to this enemy, he will eventuall do it to us, again.

I haven't seen all that many people forgetting about 9/11. What I have noticed is that my ten year old daughter has very little memory of it and my five year old son does not remember it at all. I could never for get the aftermath showing that video of those Arabs jumping for joy (these are the same people who today say it never happened.) I really think we are destined to pursue anyone who plans or abets an attack on American soil. However, I don't think any airplane passengers will ever stand for another hijacking. In the future, if I'm on a hijacked plane, I am coming at the attackers with everything I got and I'm sure most people would follow suit.

Some of you people are down right morons. Our government caused or did the 9/11 attacks??? What kind of a moron believes that??? Come on!!! So many were ready to go to war right after the attacks. Now we are falling back on our heals because it's not as slam dunk as you all thought it would be.
People knock our president constantly and it's rather irritating. Look!!! The president from the very beginning said that it would be a long and hard road. Nobody of any intelligence thought that we would waltz in and just be done in a couple of months. Some say we have failed in Iraq. Some even say this is the last chance that we have. I don't believe this for a minute. There is always more tactics, more strageties more chances. Some say our president is out for blood. That's hilarious! It's a damn good thing I'm not the president because I would make president Bush look like a little school girl with what I would do in his position. I'd level that whole damn place and take names later. I would make it a waste land of epic proportions. This goes to show the kindness of our president. Everyone says they support our troops but they are only paying lip service so as not to be politically incorrect or offend anyone. I stand behind our troops; I stand behind my president. By the way do we still have any nuclear weapons cause I have a couple of places that I'd like to plant one.
P.S. Thank you for your service and sacrifice my friend. You are the one putting your life on the line, fighting for our freedom like our forefathers did. It takes big balls to put your life on the line like that even for some of the morons that have no clue what the hell they are talking about.

We can all thank the liberal media for sticking their noses way too far in where it doesn't belong, for the out-of-control state of allegiance in this country.
While we may not have had near as many deaths as prior wars, you certainly didn't see cameras staged on the front lines to the likes of what we see smattered all over the news stations today in Vietnam or WW2. War is ugly, this has never been a secret. But, the media insists on recording it, editing it to near falsehood, then trying to brainwash citizens into thinking we're the bad guys here. Unfortunately, some have fallen victim to this form of media brainwashing. Those that were screaming for vengeance for the deaths on American soil directly after 9/11 are now protesting and bashing anyone and everything to do with this war. They wouldn't have any basis without having seen an edited version of what's really going on over there on a news channel.
Let's also not forget the grieving mother everyone felt compelled to sympathize with, who stalked (yes, stalked) the president for weeks, just because her son died in a war - doing what he wanted to do. My husband is in the military, and god forbid he ever lost his life in a war, I would stand proud knowing he stood up for this country rather than trying to place blame on any one person. Again, blame the media for making her a martyr, instead of a psychopath.
All that being said, I'm sure society would have a completely different view if the media didn't repeatedly try to sway opinions and play with emotions every day of the week in some bleak attempt to out-scoop each other for a good story.
I agree with what someone said above about Clinton. I don't see anyone blaming him for starting this, but yet the one left to finish it is taking the brunt of this madness. Oh, how easily we do forget.
Stop being sheep, by blindly following the media, just because it's the popular thing to do.

Historically Americans have a very short memory. 9/11 Americans were screaming at the President to DO SOMETHING. We now have trade with Viet Nam. We hold convicted killers in prison for many years before execution, so we will feel sorry for them when they are finally put to death. We reelect corrupt govt. officials because we forgot how bad they lied to us, screwed us and neglected us their last term in office.
When the Nazi concentration camps were liberated at the end of WW2 the commander insisted photos be taken so it could never be denied that it happened. Guess what? Even with the pictures and movies people are even more than ever denying it.
Like it is said, if you forget history you are doomed to repeat it.

Retired here, but know what you are saying. My prayers are for the guys on active duty and their families. Sadly, the majority of Americans have neither the guts or will for more than the length of a football game if that. I fear we are doomed to fall because all those willing to fight will not have the support. Maybe all us military folks should carve a new nation and either throw out or kill all the losers and nere do wells. Be funny when they get buttraped by the enemy and come begging for our help. Help we will refuse to give.

Given the multitude of entertainment venues available to people in this Country, the attention span of the average American has dwindled to that of a moth. Whatever it is, if it happened the day before yesterday, most have already forgotten and moved on. If Americans were like this 50 years ago we never would have defeated the Nazis or the Japanese Empire.

My heartfelt thanks to you and all our service men and women. We do have an enemy who has been trying for years to kill us and is determined to keep trying till they succeed. Our freedom and peace come from your efforts and sacrifice along with your families. Know for sure that some of us out here are VERY thankful to you.
Edit---Lots of negative responses to the war. I'm glad our troops know and believe better. The MSM constant supply of lies has had its negative effect. Astonishes me that people align themselves with the same rhetoric as CAIR a supporter of Terrorism while in does PR work and cover up here in the states arm and arm with the media. People do some research please.

Not everyone has forgotten but those who have it's like it was just another day for us but it wasn't. Since then people have gone back to their own lives and never thought about that day that a lot of innocent people were killed and a lot of people lost loved ones. I can bet you that they haven't forgotten. If you'd lost a loved one on 9/11 you sure won't forget. I think it's sad that they have forgotten. I don't know why they have. I most defiantly do support our troops. They are over seas risking their lives for us and they don't have to be. I am really impressed that they would do that since they don't know all of us. I know that God is really impressed and is going to bless them for being so unselfish and risking their lives for people they don't know. Thank you Troops for all your dedication! There's a country song about 9/11 and I agree with it. I think people choose to forget because it didn't bother them very much even though we lost a lot of policemen and fire fighters risking their lives for us. It was a sad day for america and it was a very big deal to me. I'll never forget seeing it on the news. I was in my late teens. I wish everyone would never forget about it but there's ones who have and ones who haven't.
