Neither I or my future husband are religous people, our parent's places aren't really conducive to a wedding either. I thought about Vegas, but I don't want to just rent a chapel for an hour. i honestly don't know many good places to get married besides a church or a park or something. His family lives in Oregon, mine in ohio, But we live in colorado, we haven't decided on either location yet, we really just want the perfect spot, no matter where it be in those two states. Help me out please!

A lot of catering and banquet facilities will have both outdoor and indoor areas designed for wedding ceremonies. You could also have both the ceremony and the reception at at hotel (e.g. in the ballroom). Check out www.theknot.com for a listing of ceremony and reception sites in your area.

We got married in one the the banquet halls of the hotel that had our reception. A judge officiated the wedding b/c we are different religions and his parents refused to come to a religious ceremony. Also, Our families lived 8 hours away from each other, so all the out of town guests were able to stay in the hotel where the wedding was. We also had the rehearsal dinner in the same hotel the night before. It really made things easy to not have to worry about shuttling all the guests to and from all the locations. Whatever you decide, i'm sure it'll be perfect for you. Good Luck!

You both need to decide where you want the the wedding to be held first. Your family's state, his, or the state you live in or some other state. Do you want it big or small. If you consider honneymoon right after and family reunion for every one, then pick a vacation location that everyone can afford to join, a cruise also works. Once you decide the spot everything else would be easier to plan. Like the hotel you're going to stay in....they would be able plan a wedding and recetion for you there. Plan everything, leave everything for them, then just relax and enjoy. Do not over work yourself, do not expect or plan for everything to be perfect, it only make you stress more. Good luck.

We had a family ceremony at my husband's parent home in Arizona, the reception at a restaurant there, then flew back to Oregon, had another reception for all my friends who could not go to Arizona.

What about on the beach in Oregon, maybe at a small bed and breakfast. If you have a large wedding you could rent a ballroom at a really nice hotel and get married there. A friend of mine got married outside overlooking Pikes Peak and it was amazing. Pretty much you can get married anywhere you want. Just ask and make sure they will allow it. My Brother got married in a private room at a wonderful restaurant in Chicago. Just find what is right for you.

A wedding can be conducted in just about any location. A park, a beach, a resort, a cruise ship, a historical or a natural landmark, a cabin in the woods, a bed & breakfast, a yacht, you name it. I don't really know what appeals to the two of you - I would think that a wedding in a picturesque spot with the view of the Oregon coastline would be splendid. Congratulations.

Here's some advice a wedding planner gave my husband and myself when we didn't want the same things she thought we should want: "Why don't you just go get married in a park under a tree!"

Instead we went to Vegas. You don't actually rent a chapel. Our wedding cost just over $200 and included flowers and a limo to and from the "ceremony."

Even religious people get married in places other than a church. :) I should think that a ski resort in Colorado would be great!

There are farms, winery, yacht, museum, garden, home, B&B, Art gallery, beach, park, even the venue where you are having your reception, which is becoming quite popular. Even places like Dave & Busters!

You know here in Cincy, there's the Krohn Converatory, Cincy Art Museum; Covington, KY has The Madison & I've been contacted to do a wedding at the Newport Aquarium.

Choose someplace that you & your fiance will feel comfortable.

We did Vegas at the Little White Chapel and you dont actually rent the chapel. You go in, wait in the waiting room with other couples and then when it's your turn, you and your guests go in the chapel room, get married, and then go take pictures. The whole ceremony lasts maybe 15 minutes. It's actually really easy. They give you flowers there and everything. All you have to do is show up.

What about a park gazebo? That's what we are doing for our wedding in August. There are also some reception venues that will allow you to have your ceremony there. Also some big hotels have banquet rooms that you can use for both the ceremony and the reception. Good luck!

Hey I do not know the geography of USA, but after watching some serials like Baywatch, I can suggest you can have your marriage in some good beach, you can put a tent where you can serve the refreshments, and all your friends can have a ball in the moonlight beach. Just think, how your marriage would be under the moon, with lot of stars and the sound of waves in the background.
