You don't need a book to tell you how to diet. Use the food pyramid. Eat normal sized portions of the recommended amount of food you should consume. Exercise 30 minutes a day, every day. Keep in mind, the portion size of one serving of meat is about the size of a deck of cards or the palm of your hand, not your entire hand. You want more vegetables and fruit in your diet. Don't tell yourself "I wont eat ANY of this," because you're setting yourself up for failure. If you want a brownie, eat a small brownie. If you want a slice of cheesecake, eat a small slice of cheese cake. And only eat that one serving of dessert. Spread your eating throughout the day, 5-6 small meals over 3 HUGE meals. 3 meals a day causes your metabolic rate to go up and down and your blood sugar levels to spike and drop. Small meals keeps you feeling fuller, longer and keeps your metabolic rate up, and keeps your blood sugar level steady.

There's so many diets, because people are so picky. They don't like how something tastes, looks, feels, smells, or sounds.
People don't want to take the time to sit down and make a healthy meal, they don't want to take the time to take something out of their food. People are lazy and picky, and then they sit there and wonder why they're overweight!

You don't need anybody to tell you what diet to use, or a book, or a website. You can use all the information that is out there as guidlines, to finding the diet/exersize plan that's right for you.

If you don't want to gain muscle, try doing a cardio workout(you can try tae bo, or yoga), with a healthy diet. You don't have to cut things like cheese, or chocolate out of your diet. All you need to do is watch how much you intake. keep an eye on your carbs, like pasta. You don't have to count each and every little thing on the label, but you need to keep an eye on carbs, cholesterol, and sodium. Dont' worry to much about calories. Your body needs calories, and when it doesn't get enough, then your body starts to save things it shouldn't. Like fat. If you don't have enough fat, then you're body will store the fat it has, and will start to feed off other things, like muscle.

The link below has great tips about dieting and exersize. That's the site that I use. It's a really good site.

The only thing you can do is look around, and try different diets. Experimenting, is the best gift we've been given, and life's greatest lesson! Trying different plans, gives you more variety, and can help you choose what you want to do. You can mix up 3 different plans, to come up with your own. And remember, it's always easier, and more fun, if you have a friend to do it with you!!

And my diet consists of eating pretty much, whatever I want, with little exersize lol. I don't eat alot during the day, so I don't intake alot of junk. But when I do eat, I usually do things like vacuuming, or running around the house with my son and dog. Or I use one of my exersize tapes. To work off all the garbage I just ate, which would be quite a bit lol. I have a fast metabolism, so I don't really need to workout, to lose weight. I workout to stay at the weight I'm at. If I want to tone up, I go to the gym, or use things around the house as my weights.

You should never diet unless medically nescessary. Have you not figured out that diets either don't work or don't last. It's called a "Life Change" You need to make the choice that it is truly something that you want and do something about it. Nothing in life has ever been known to be easy but you choose the course you take. Watch what you eat and get plenty to drink and exercise... and love yourself. Good luck. As far as something quick, do what wrestlers do... not eating, but that's stupid now isn't it?

Sensible eating and reasonable exorcise is what it takes. Yep. Dull and mundane I know but that's it. With that you should be losing two or three pounds a week and no more. when your body reaches the proper weight it will maintain that weight on it's own as long as you keep your diet sensible and do a reasonable amount of exorcise.
