I'm not sure what this would even fall under . But certain things can make me feel like I am losing it. I am deathly afraid of Storms. If someone is hurt instead of helping I run or just make things worse. Once my son was falling from his highchair and instead of grabing him like a normal person I just raised my hands and screamed. Thankfully my sister grabbed him. It is like a constant worry. I jump out of my skin if someone comes up behind me. Or even watching a TV show others can see it and go wow! I am like on the edge of my seat and scream. I am talking the movie "Ice Age the Melt Down". One time there was a storm and my son was across the street my husband had to go get him because I couldn't move from my spot until he was there. And then he and his friends came to finish their game and I was trying to get the table in the hall way. They thought I was nuts. Last night my husband got a nose bleed and he threatened to lock me out of the bathroom because I was freaking out. HELP!

Based on my own experiences I would have to say that you suffer from an anxiety/phobia disorder. It sounds like you have severe enough anxiety that you would benefit from some therapy and/or antianxiety medication.

I would suggest that you visit your primary care doctor and get a referral to a specialist who can formally diagnose you.

My father has PTSD, and some of the things he does sound so very similar to what you're saying.

Have you ever had anything traumatic happen to you? Something that scared you so bad you're still not over it?
That would be the main requirement for PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)

I would consult a professional on this, there's absolutely no way any of us here can diagnose you. It's possibly you have an anxiety disorder, or some kind of a...I don't want to say 'neurosis' but that comes closest to what I'm thinking of.

I totally think that your right and the diet you were told to follow brought it all back, i used to be bulimic. I'd go on a diet and it would be all working fine id be losing weight and such but id be measuring and weighing everyday in the morning and if i did not lose the pound i wanted to, maybe i just lost like a half instead, id get really discouraged and then binge and then be sad again and purge. eventually i just realized i was going f**king nuts and i needed to stop this insanity so i just decided to set up a schedule, only for exercise though, NOT food. id speed walk every morning for an hour and this gave me peace of mind that i could eat what i wanted throughout the day and not gain anything. Also id always eat breakfast after to rev my metabolism and then just eat when im hungry, not denying myself any food, just eating normal porportions. i never really felt the need to purge again after that.

If you were a man, your disorder would be "a nancyboy."

But being a woman - you need self-confidence to be able to handle emergencies. Take a course in first-aid and CPR. FORCE yourself to handle "small" emergencies (non-life-threatening) and REALIZE that you CAN do things.

The fear of storms? Go stand in the rain, and make yourself realize you won't get hurt. And if you DO get hurt, like struck by lightening or blown off your feet? Make sure someone has a cellphone, so it can be shown on YouTube, because accidents happen, and they are usually funny!

Sounds like you have a lot of anxiety and are probably very sensitive, too. Remind your husband that one of the reasons he married you is because you are sensitive!
Get a full medical work-up done, because you may have a vitamin deficiency or something that needs medical care. You need a doctor to help you find out why you keep having these scary times.
Good luck in finding help.

You have phobias and a high level of anxiety. I think therapy is very helpful to deal with these things. I had a problem with anxiety and therapy helped me overcome it without any drugs.
Going to therapy doesn't mean you are weird or crazy. It might be the smartest thing you'll ever do.

I would suggest you see your regular MD he may recommend you seeing a therapist and put you on a low dose of medication. Some people just freak out over the littlest things, however it sounds like your condition is a little more severe.

it definitely sounds like an anxiety disorder/ panic disorder. the symptoms you describe are also pretty indicative of post-traumatic stress disorder. did something happen to you in the past that makes you afraid of storms, or of people getting hurt?

you're not crazy, but you might be helped a lot by therapy.

The Bible says," GOD does not give us a spirit of fear, but of love and a sound mind." It also says."Draw near unto ME and I will draw near unto you". As I was on the plane headed for battle in Viet Nam I asked GOD if I would be coming back. He said " None of your business, if I bring you back you'll be back, if I don't you won't". With a smile in my heart I thought, "YOU got me again LORD. What do I do With that answer"? The important issue was my trust in HIM. In Nam more than once I received the remark, " Man you're brave!" It's true I had no fear; Not because of who I was but because of who HE is. It's better to know the healer than the disease.

I don't know if this would be a disorder, but my mother acts like this a little, and she doesn't have a disorder. Maybe you are just stained from past experiences. But I suggest maybe going to a doctor or a therapist and see what he has to say.
