i'd like to know your opinion, why or why not.
i think it's a bad thing. banning birth control never stops anyone from having sex, it promotes kids having babies. (this is an opinion!) a quick story, i have two cousins who are sisters and they are catholic and both of them had kids before the age of 18. i was never denied birth control and had my first child at 30. hmmmmmm......

It is terrible that the Catholic church, for example, does not condone the use of birth control, especially the use of condoms. Due to the influence of the Catholic church, especially in the third world, that has led to the continued spread of AIDS and unwanted pregnancy, etc. What kind of a organization (or rather big business) is the Catholic church for not realizing that we do not live in the 1st century? That the spread of AIDS can be reduced dramatically with the use of condoms, etc. It is very irresponsible for religious organizations to not promote safe sex, since sex is going to happen anyway. Certainly good thing that religious sects do not live in denial (note sarcasm). People will have sex at whatever age from now until the end of time, we are mammals and hormonally geared to do that first and foremost.
My answer is that it is a horrible and non-realistic view of reality that the church has had today and even since the invention of religion. To think that people will abstain from sex is a very childish was of thinking of it, come on it has never worked and never will. Religion is evil for banning birth control.

I think it's outrageous that supposedly pious members of a religion are told they cannot use birth control.

As far as I know, most religions say life begins at conception. With birth control, conception is eliminated, and possibly those using birth control may have legitimate reasons such as no finances, wanting to finish school, wanting to buy a house, etc.

Religion is supposed to be about enriching's ones life, and by declaring birth control banned, that is definitely puts a halt on someone's life, and can create a bad situation should a pregnancy occur. Parents should always have the say in when they want kids. Birth control allows them to get their lives in order and then have a baby.

The Catholic Church's teaching on contraception deals with the use of contraception WITHIN marriage. The Church has NO teaching on the use of contraception outside of marriage. Unless your cousins were married, it was NOT the Church that told them to not use contraception!

I agree that is bad. Taking it away won't stop people from having sex especially teens and it's sad to. I'm against teens having sex but if they do I think there should be protection available because taking it away won't stop and they are letting more babies being born. Teens today are having babies at way to young of ages. My sister in law and brother had my niece when my sister in law was 13 (she turned 14 after she was born.) grant that was planned but that's not the point the point is for the ones who wind up having unplanned pregancy is bad and it's wrong for them to take the birth control away. Good question by the way.

Absolutely not. These people are often the same ones who want abortions made illegal, and here they are just shooting themselves in the foot. The answer to fewer abortions isn't abolishing them (that'll just lead to dangerous back ally abortions and even more loss of life) but providing sex education and information about birth control to those most likely to have unprotected sex - teenagers. They need to know exactly what can happen if they have sex (both pregnancy and STDs) and how to do so safely, and not just "it's bad, don't do it." Because if a teenager is going to have sex, that isn't going to stop them.

Barrier methods are morally acceptable. Hormonal methods that prevent the release of an egg are morally acceptable.

A hormonal method that allows ovulation and thus conception, but prevents implantation, is morally unacceptable.

The pill, for example, does allow ovulation and thus is morally repugnant. Some of the implants, on the other hand, shut down a woman's cycle entirely -- these are allowable. A rubber or diaphram or cap would be permissible as well, as their method of operation is to prevent fertilization, not the destruction of a fertilized blastula/embryo.

I find it funny how many people think of this as a religious issue -- properly, it's a moral issue, not religious.

Only Christians who live comfortable lives with 2.5 children and white picket fences think that banning birth control is a good idea.
