Use your Windows XP Home Edition CD to make a repair install, WinXP Home will take over of the pirated WinXP Pro that was installed. You won't lose any your own files or most software that are already installed using "Repair" during the WinXP Home setup.

It all depends where your data is stored.
Anywhere on the C: drive and particularly in a folder created by windows on installation and there is a good chance that it will all be lost when you re-install.

Take a backup first. Save the backup to CD or any other non-local drive and you should be safe.
