Unfortunately, our minds are not designed to comprehend the size of the universe, let alone our own little galaxy (which has over 100 billion suns in it). We live in such a three dimensional world. The universer occupies more dimensions than that.
Nobody really knows, of course. Probably just more endless space, with no matter yet in it. The universe is expanding. Or, given the time/space curvature, perhaps you eventually come back to where you started- although you might have to travel at the speed of light for 100 billion years.

Many centuries ago, it was thought that the universe was made up of the few thousand stars that could be seen with the unaided eye. But now, with powerful instruments that scan the heavens, scientists know that there is much, much more. In fact, what has been observed is far more awesome than anyone had ever imagined. The human mind is staggered by the immensity and complexity of it all. As National Geographic magazine commented, what man is now learning about the universe has “left him stunned.”1

Yet here is another unmanifest nature, which is eternal and is transcendental to this manifested and unmanifested matter(material Universe). It is supreme and is never annihilated. When all in this world is annihilated, that part remains as it is.
This material Universe is just like a shadow of the spiritual Universe, beyond this material Universe is the kingdom of God which is self illuminated and eternal. Millions of spiritual planet are floating there and all of them are inhabited by liberated souls who are serving God.

Well, if it is endless,
that would truly be a waste of space.

Meaningless question. If there were anything, it would exist "with" the universe, and thus be part of the universe, even if ontologically discontinuous.

I think most science agrees there is a limit to the universe we live in.
Since it was created by God as we believe, that further shows it has limits.
Only God knows and since it is not crucial to our spirtual and physical life, we may never know.

Space and time are limited, thus finite. Outside the universe, we have no way to relate to, we just have to accept the creator's revelation of the nature of "I AM THAT I AM" and His plan for his creation here in space and time.

There is nothing outside the universe, not even 'nothing' or empty space.
