Anyone who answers this could get disbarred if they are lawyers and not licensed to practice law in NY or could get in trouble for the illegal practice of law.

A sentence could range from probation to one year in jail, with assessments of fines and court costs. The outcome would likely be most affected by a past record.

Much more serious issues can be dismissed under an ACD (Adjornment in Conteplation of Dismissal). The lawyer can argue the facts of a first time offender, offer restitution, and community service instead of jail or probation. ACD would usually be a 6 month, keep-my-nose clean deal.

One thing is for sure. I bet you never go through this again for 11 dollars worth of Ding Dongs. You dumb sh*t. What were you thinking. Is this just the first time that you got caught.

If you have a clean record and play it right in court you should be able to get a pretty light sentence. I really don't know as I have never been arrested.

Use your head. If you had been a adult you could have gone to prison and spent some time in a cell with Bubba.

Now go do the right thing.

Chuckles - mind your own business.

There are many possible outcomes so you MUST speak to the Prosecutor before you do anything. I recommend you get a lawyer to represent you. He will then be your advocate with the prosecutor and the Court..There are too many variables here that could swing the outcome one way or the other. Remember - if you can't afford an attorney - one will be appointed to you at no charge. This is NOT legal advice - this is LIFE advice - and don't do it again!!

The question is why did you steal in the first place, obviously there is some kind of personal problem and a lack of respect for the law and yourself. I suggest you go to court and plead guilty, and ask the judge to assign you to counseling. There is no excuse or justification for your actions you stole someone Else's property and unless you figure out why you stand a chance of move on to bigger and better crimes. I would think you would end up with some sort of community service. Maybe a fine. It is sort of rediculous, though, that you were arrested for that.

A fine or probation or community service. "If" this is your first offense. But get over it, and don't do it again.
