This has always struck me as the deepest form of hypocrisy. Christians are always demanding that atheists prove there is no God, but never offer up proof that God genuinely exists. The only thing they ever have to say is ‘have faith’ or ‘wait until you die and see’.
Surly if you make a claim as grand as ‘a super alien created the universe and watches over all that is in it’, you must be able to offer some viable proof.
But ask a Christian for evidence and it is taken as the worst kind of insult.
A bit like your math tutor telling you that that 15 x 27= 23, and when you ask him to prove it, he whacks you around the head with a hammer screaming don’t question me, but refuses to prove his answer.
All Christians seem to do is quote from an ancient book, which has been proven to be a mish mash compilation of writings, copied and translated so many times that the stories bear little or no resemblance to the original text.
So why ask us to disprove this nonsense, lets see your proof.

See what I mean, ask Christian a simple question, prove your God exists?
And I am seen as intolerant, ranting and according to some... Atheists are always on the attack, by asking you to prove your claims? How do you work that one out?
Atheists do not threaten those of faith with hell fire and eternal torment; neither do we make up fantastic stories about gods & demons and other worlds and demand people believe them. When we write such stories we call them science fantasy.
It is not up to us to disprove anything. You people of faith tell us your fantasy is real, you insist that it is real.
Then sit back and say you don't have to prove anything. Just who are you trying to kid.
Just like the kid who makes up a story about being kidnapped by pirates on his way to school and then says prove I am not a liar.
Why should I waste time on a spurious argument?
All we Atheists ask is. Please leave us alone, we are not interested in your fantasy. So please stop ramming it down our throats.

I've never demanded Atheist prove there is no God. Why would I do such a thing, I know He exists.
There is no valid reasoning for trying to convince an Atheist that there is a God, they're incapable of accepting the truth.
Cool rant though...

A being coming to Earth and performing what seem to be miraculous deeds could be an alien, or a being from the future. Thus, that is still not evidence enough to say a deity exists. A deity in general cannot be shown not to exist, because the concept is so vacuous as to predict nothing. But, once any positive qualities are attached to the idea of a deity, evidence will either support or undermine the claim. For instance, people can claim to believe in a *good* God. That would predict a universe where goodness is favored over evil. Even if we say there is also an evil being opposed to this God (such as a Devil), that would predict some favoring of good and some of evil. Evidence strongly suggests the universe is neutral, so the claims that a good God or an evil Devil exists are false.

To all the Christians who are saying we (atheists) can't prove there is no god. You are correct, but the point is that science without a doubt proves the Bible wrong in many many places. If the Bible is all Christians have to go on and it is the word of God and it is proves wrong, that at the very least proves that Christianity is wrong! Even if there is a God it's not the God of the Bible.

The teapot orbiting Pluto analogy serves us well here.
There MAY be a teapot orbiting Pluto. In the current state of our knowledge, we are unable to conclusively prove that there isn't. But that doesn't mean that the "belief" that there IS a teapot orbiting Pluto is on equal footing with the "belief" that there is not. All that we DO know of the universe suggests that such a belief is absurd. Theism is what's known to logicians as an argumentum ad ignorantiam, an "argument from ignorance."
As for the person above who speaks of the "intolerance" of atheists - sorry, but that just doesn't fly. Christians had a right to speak of "intolerance" back when they were being fed to the lions. But ever since Christianity became the state religion of Rome, thence the guiding force behind all of Western culture, its devotees really have no grounds to complain of their supposed persecution (except by each other). So maybe it's time to bring back the lions - at least martyrdom gave you some semblance of nobility.
It requires true moral courage, in a society so superficially "religious" as ours, for a person to publicly "admit" that he's an atheist. It requires nothing short of mental indolence and a desire to fit in to claim Christianity. You're encouraged and rewarded for your "faith," while atheists are suspected and despised for theirs. In short, "I solemnly assure you, you are already repaid."

As anyone with a IQ Of 5 or more knows there is no way to prove or disprove that there is a God. So your wanting the Christain to prove there is a God is no more valid than theirs asking you to disprove it. And not "all christians" want you to disprove their religion. I say... to each his own, and that is what their "ancient book" teaches as well. We each have the right to believe or not believe that there is a God. Sharing beliefs is one thing, but trying to push someone into believing is something totally different and very wrong. My only challange would be... try it out, if you want to know for sure. Let yourself believe... live a christian life etc... if it works for you... great.... if not.... then it is not for you.
If we only believed what science has proved, there never would of been a light balb... the earth would still be (believed to be) flat.

Here's the thing. Spiritual knowledge is gained through spiritual means. Logic can support that knowledge, but it can't find it.
I personally prefer the "prove to me you exist" one because you can see how difficult that really is, even when it's something you know is true. Anything you can say "could just be a figment of my imagination" you know.
Anyway, the point is knowledge can be gained through more than just logic. We have instincts and other things at work here. Some people just embrace them more than others.

Hypocracy has nothing to do with it. The atheists are usually the ones on the attack, so therefore, they must prove their point to change the status quo. Did you ever play King of the Mountain when you were a kid? How many times did the king come down from the hill to defend their ground? Never. When you're king, the challengers have to run up the mountain. Same way with any debate, philosophical, or religious discussion. The offense has to go to the defense and win.

The bible is proven to be false. It is without a doubt inaccurate and untrustworthy as a record of any event. Everything xians know about god is from the bible. See the problem with trying to get a xian to understand basic logic?

There is no rational scientific proof one way or the other. Both have to be taken on faith, it's just a matter of which direction your faith leans.
