my son starts school in september and he still struggles with some of his clothes - if your son is going to pre-school they will not expect alot from him, and to be honest by September he'll probably of mastered it himself

He will still only be 3 so I don't think there will be too many worries about whether he can do a visit completely unaided. If he has elasticated trousers and he can get them up and down then I am sure the teachers will help neaten him up. Just pack a spare set of clothes in case of accidents! And if there is a toilet rather than having to use a urinal then if he prefers to sit and let it dangle then that is perfectly normal and acceptable. One of my son's friends went that way well in to P1 (age5) and there were never any issues about it. Far less chance of accidents!
I have 3 boys and they all different in how they approached the toilet and felt comfortable, so there is no set rule. Maybe even give the preschool a ring and ask them if there is anythng you'd be glad to know in advance and work on before he goes, but I am sure there's nothing to worry about.
And Sept is not a long way off - the time is going to fly by! Enjoy while he's still home with you!x

it's a long time till September you will be surprised what he will be able to do by then, he will have the summer to get use to it and by wearing flimsy shorts it will get easier, don't send him to school with complicated trousers with belts and things, ordinary pull up elastic waisted ones will do for a start, believe me by sep; you will be wondering what all the fuss was about, anyway if it's a good nursery he should be supervised,

It depends on the preschool administration. I know that some required children to be potty trained because they don't have the staff to man diaper changes. Some preschools don't require it.

my son was 3 in december and goes on the potty himself tries pulling up his trousers etc and i started him in a nursery on monday and he hasn't had wet trousers yet. plus if you have any concerns tell the pre school staff as they are usually pretty good like that.

my son started at 3 its a big thing. yes they expect them to ask for the toilet but they also expect lots of wet pants so all they normaly say is make sure you bring spare trousers in.

At most preschools, they require the child to be potty trained and be able to use the bathroom on their own.
