First i would check add remove programs. start>control panel> add/remove programs. look through the list for anything mcaffee, if there is stuff from mcafee click on it, go change/remove and follow the wizard.
If you see something there but it wont remove, try removing it in safe mode. to get to safe mode restart your computer, when your computer comes back on (before it says windows and you get the bar loading - you gotta be pretty quick) start pressing F8 (thats the function 8 button at top of keyboard) you may have to try this a few times. choose safe mode or safe mode with networking. when it loads up its gonna put a bunch of text on your screen, then give you a login screen. sign in on your user, then go through add/remove programs again and try to get rid of mcafee stuff. to get back in normal mode just restart the computer.

I took a quick look on the mcafee site, i didnt see anything for removing mcafee shredder, you can try another program i use which is designed to remove the mcafee security suite. Its called mcrem. site is http://www.myfixes.com/articles/mcrem. this one is a batch file (it will open in a black screen and give some prompts - usually go with defaults, you must use keyboard, in the command prompt mouse wont do anything) theres also a gui (graphical user interface) version thats more user freindly (looks similar to most install/uninstall programs) at http://remove-it.org/?page_id=17
side note, this manually blows away all mcafee security suite stuff so if you have another antivirus on your computer right now and its built off off mcafee's program (i think the AOL security suite is) you will have to reinstall that program.
hope that helps

you could also try reinstalling mcafee (normal mode), then removing it from safe mode, since in safe mode it should be disabled. If there was an error in the uninstall process it would most likely have been the program running in the background.

The Taliban are enthusiasts. they are going to kill for the slightest reason. Killing a "secret agent" has no longer some thing to do with Islam. notwithstanding Islam isn't a faith of peace. that is a violently militant faith. The Quran is finished of demands the propagation of Islam by technique of sword, and for the killing of the infidel.
