According to a small travel trailer manufacuture a regular New Beetle can't tow their trailers, but the Turbo Beetle can. This doesn't make sense becaue towing capacity is not about engine power but suspension and stopping abiltiy. Does anyone know the manufacture specks for towing on the Turbo Beetle?

I have a turbo JETTA (tdi) and I can tow over 1 ton of properly distributed weight. Tongue weight has to be lower than say, on a monster truck because we are already so low to the ground. my 12' trailer is a 4 tire design, so it holds the weight, and my tongue is pretty light. - I can EASILY tilt my trailer back and forth when loaded.

I guess it would depend really, on the year of the VW Beetle. The newer beetles, 06 and 07 (for sure) don't come in turbo. They newer beetles have the same engine power as the turbos, so they don't come in turbos anymore.....

The Turbo Beetle has a sport suspension and an improved transmission. And yes, it does have more power.
