Hey John Ray,

After using all the conventional Genealogy tools, GENFORUM, LDS Family Search, and passenger manifests, you would need to have your 'pointers' into Italy defined very well. Then apply for Birth, Death, Marriage, certificates at the variety of sites. If you know that a family is in Italy now, call them and ask if they speak English.

Below is a stack of Italy Genealogy and Contact sites, which may be of use in your quest.

Look up your grandfather's last name on the internet. Find out where in Italy your great-grandfather and those with his name originated. At the local library do all the research you can on WW1and 2 and who was involved in fighting for the British. Are there any photo albums of your grandparents' and their family? You could use those for references. Also, you could contact others of similar origin via the Net. Contact with fellow geneologists can open doors to a world of information.
