I dont need to take any pain meds for physical reasons.

My dad is a user, so its kind of hard to keep him out of my life. Im just gonna have to beat this thing with sheer willpower. Ive done it before, I can do it again... im just afraid of another relaps, I dont want to relaps but I know its a possibility.

There is NO OVERNIGHT cure for this. It is a long ongoing process my friend.
You not only have to stop the drugs, but you have to deprogram yourself and then reprogram.
Some things to help you deprogram yourself is to do a little soul searching and try to figure out what happened in your life, no matter how long ago, that maybe started you down this road. Understand that it's true when they say in the meetings, "people, places and things"
Try staying away from the old friends in that particular circle, try staying away from things that "trigger" you to use. The triggers could be anything. Big or small, people, places and things.
Try going to a bookstore, even a second hand bookstore and get a self help book on addiction and things associated with addiction. Sometimes, reading and educating yourself about your addiction, the whys and the hows, will help you.
If you are a believer in a higher power such as God, talk to Him. Read your Bible.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

I have a question for you before giving you advice.

Is this recreational use or are you a pain patient. If the latter is the case, then you need to be under a doctor's care, including the care of a doctor who specializes in treating chronic pain. In such a case, your management tools may well include narcotics, as one of many management tools.

If this is recreational use, then you should understand that NA is all well and good, as part of aftercare following an appropriate stint in rehab. Please. again, talk with your doctor, this time about help in getting and staying clean. It can be done, but in order to do it, you have to want to do it for yourself.

Best of luck either way. But see your doctor.
