My carpet is a dusty color moss green, my leather couch is burgandy and the chair a small print of burgandy, green and tan, so..what color should I use to paint the walls? I have natural oak woodwork and a lot of it..there are 6 windows in that room. I'm open to drapery suggestions also. Thanks for your time and attention!

hey I like decor and decorating. anyway you have alot of dominate colors going for you so you like color and thats great. I would go with maybe a light brown or tan color for walls. I would also on windows go with maybe some scarfs not to take away from the great window lighting you get with all the windows and the trim work. you could tie in some burdgandy curtains maybe have a plaid or floral which one is your choice pillow that would tie all the colors together on your couch. Chocolate brown go with those colors well but having alot of woodwork would probably blend in and not pop your woodwork as much. Anyway good luck. To me its such a personal thing.. But I love to play with color..

If you are looking for more color in the room, you can go with a light orange (VERY light) on the walls. If you are looking to highlight the colors in your room that you have already, you can use a diluted yellow (a very light yellow, almost nonexistant yellow). I would stick with light colors because you have so many dominant colors already.

If you do use drapes please do not use tie backs or curtains. It sounds like a great looking room with some excelent light. Depending on your usage of the room (ex. if you don't have a TV or computer where light would reflect) I would recommend keeping all that light. You can use a natural looking blind (like bamboo or even oak if you budget allows) that can match your pre-existing woodwork and that will help keep the room looking more open.

If you want to paint, I say choose your drape color first (there are even multiple colored drapes on the market today) and then choose your wall color. If you pick out some really great looking drapes then that is what a visitor should see first and not your walls. So, your color of your walls should be very neutral and you can even go with a white color to help accent all the other colors in the room. I would also recommend not getting a drape that goes all the way to the ground. Use a shorter drape and keep that light flowing in the room!

Hope this helps!
