I was diagnosed with a chest infection last week and given antibiotics. I finished them yesterday but my chest is still really painful, although I'm not coughing.

Do you think it will just go on its own, or should I go back to the Dr's?

As Mendelssohn said, mal-practice is the only kind we have. If you want more, go for it. If you have a pulmonary problem, you should get a cool mist humidifier, and add a pint of hydrogen peroxide to the gallon of water. Set the unit to run by your bed as you sleep. Then you are helping your body clean up the mess. Hydrogen peroxide is one of the things your body makes to fight infection. Hopefully given proper support your body will heal itself. You might try postural drainage. (hanging down over the edge of the bed for example) and hot showers might help loosen things up. If the pain is in the lungs, there is something in there that needs to come out

nothing beats getting it checked out by your doctor. You wouldnt wanna get pneumonia because you thought it might go away on its own. Always best to be safe than sorry :o)
