Yes but the only thing keeping them from passing us is their navy force. They don't have the capibility to transport troops and equipment like we do nor do they have the combat ships that we do.

To be a military super power does not mean just Nukes. It means to exert by force on another nation or nations. To do that you need a mobile military that would allow exerting that type of force.

Currently only the US, Britain, France, Italy, India, and Brazil have Aircraft carriers that can move around the seas of the world and exert their nations military power.

China does not have the capability to exert itself around the planet like the US or the former USSR could.

China is nearing the Super Power status but have not quite got there yet.

China has been one of the super powers for a long time. A friend teaches social sciences in junior high school asks students to put what ever they have in their school bags and with them in school to put the Chinese made items on the teacher's desk.
In a class of 25 with the pens, pencils, calculators, palms, cell phones, etc. his desk top is just a huge pile. Then the jackets, sweatshirts, tennis shoes ... and people are surprised that China is considered an economic super power!

At best, the jury is out. The next super power may be decided by who is the least offensive to terrorists.
