My fiance and I were in bed last night, and I guess he was sleeping very deeply.. and I brushed his arm a little bit, and suddenly he swung at me several times before getting off the bed and running to the corner of the room. He was still taking swings at things, and he didn't seem to hear me when I called his name, nor when he asked me who I was did he appear to hear the answer until I finally got him to wake up. Does anyone know anything about this?

It sounds like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Waking him up, unintenionally, put him at high alert and he was in a different world. PTSD is usually found in war veterans or those who have gone through a severe trauma. The only other thing I can think of is Night Terrors. They're similar to nightmares, but 10 x's as real.

yes he was reliveing some time in his life, and i would say that it was not a very happy time in his life. He may need to get professional help to work through it, he might of depressed it for years, not it is starting to come out in his sleep.

They're called night terrors, combined with sleepwalking.
