Lately I have been looking at the horiscopes for fun and I am amazed how much they are coinsiding with my life. Should I stay away from looking at them?

You can read anything you want to. That's a part of Protestantism. You can read about Buddism or Islam or Horoscopes.

It's WHAT you believe in and follow that counts.

Horoscopes are one of the earliest forms of cold reading, a method of telling someone what they want to hear and allowing their own brain to build relationships into them.

I read horoscopes for a different reason than most. I'm learning what my trigger words are. Read over one of the recent Horoscopes you've found so coincidental and look for the words that made it so. Now dissect the statement and look for the words which are more generic.

The success of Horoscopes is that they provide an external source of validation for your feelings and abilities. Instead of focusing on these external voices, use the language you learned keys with you from these Horoscopes to write inventive and rewarding, positive lessons for your own life.

As to the religious distinctions of Horiscopes, Greek Astrology and Hebrew Mythology have 12 astrological signs all derived from the same Babylonian source. Old testement Prophets may have used Astrology in their communion with God, or more likely to assist in their control of their flocks. As a Lutheran, you may want to consider your beliefs in the context of how God allows you to approach him. The intercession of priests and prophets was something for a world before Christ. Consider the tools given you and deconstruct the advice given to you by it.

Good luck.

Reading and believing horoscopes is all the matter of faith by all religions. Horoscopes are the charts of each individual at the the time of birth and hence the destiny is determined of each individual. All the reading is purely on the basis of placement of planets at the time of birth and that makes each individual different from each other.

I have been told of a preacher who challenged his congregation to either prove or disprove the horoscopes in their local paper.

Every Sunday, he would evaluate three individuals according to their horoscopes before his congregation. After a few weeks, he had to repent of his involvement, since it seemed obvious that the prognostications were valid.

Which raises the point, if God says have nothing to do with it, do you obey? Or are you pragmatic in your assessment and just do what works?

I am sure the saintly people at your church would say yes to stay away but if you are reading them for fun and dont start to live your life by them then why not.

Try looking at a few of the other horoscopes and see what they say. Most often than not those would fit your life as well.

How serious about what they say are you? You ever notice that horoscopes for the same day from different sources say different things....If a general comment is made it can be made to fit somewhat into any situation,
