Some Christians don't shave their beards, some do. I think when Jesus says He wants us to follow Him, He means follow Him as best you can. I mean women can't become men so they can be more like Jesus. It says in Matthew 6:25-34 basically not to worry about what you wear and eat, don't worry about tomorrow. Jesus doesn't expect anyone to be a clone of Him, He wants us to have faith in Him, love Him, ask for repentence when we sin. Thanks for listening, I hope you like my answer, that was a great question.

The prohibition against trimming the edges of the beard in the Mosaic Covenant were intended to prevent Jews from adopting customs of idolatrous nations. Certain nations, such as the Babylonians and Caananites styled and trimmed their beards in ways that identified them as serving a particular god or goddess. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob wanted His chosen people to avoid every possibility that they would identify with a false god.
When Jesus came, He brought the New Covenant promised by Jeremiah 31:31-32. Under the New Covenant, we are free from physical restrictions such as this; certainly we must still refrain from outward shows of idol worship, but we now understand that God is more interested in what we believe INTERNALLY. In other words, our "hearts" must reflect an undying love and devotion to Him. If we have this, our outward appearance -- beards, circumcision, etc. -- will reflect what we believe on the inside.

No one really knows if Jesus had a beard. The "pictures" of Jesus that you see are simply an artists perception of Jesus. There is no command of Jesus in the New Testament for men to wear a beard or not to wear a beard.
Come on, get real.

Jesus never said we should look like him. Why would we need to do that?
Scriptures saying Jesus had a beard: Isaiah 50:6
I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting.

You'd have to prove that he had a beard, as greek and roman statues from the time have (I believe) a mix of beards and no beards you can not assume that everyone had a beard.

Jesus is more interested in what is in the heart of man than on his face. Following Jesus means in actions not appearance.

Jesus was born a Jew and followed Jewish laws. He did not preach or teach that those who followed him had to conform to Jewish laws. If you would like to know more about the Jewish laws on beards, I have included a reference.
