Depending on how regular your son already was will help defy how much he is backed up. If he normally only went every other day or 3 times a times a day there is going to be a difference. if he is complaining of pains or headaches then there is a problem.
My son was having a problem a couple weeks ago.. he normally has a bm several times a day and was only having it once and it was causing alot of stomach pain for him. The doctor told me first to try with diet and then if after a few days if he wasn't better to take him back in to be seen.
Lots of fluids.. especally water or juices not containing alot of sugar will help. Also.. keep pushing the fruits and veggies.. the veggies are very important. Try a homemade milkshake .. it would be a treat for him and also might help to loosen the stool.
If all else fails call your Doctors office, you may not need to even bring him in, you can get more advice from a nurse on staff.
Good Luck to your lil man :)

It may be just one of those things. 3 days is not a terrible long time to go without and it really depends on what is normal for him. If he only had one every other day then a 3 day wait is not something to be worried about. If he had twice a day, then just watch him. If he has tummy pain or isn't feeling good, take him to the doc. If he's running around and eating, then he's probably just fine. I'd cut out the suppositories and lax.s though - let his body do the work - you could be causing more problems than you're helping.

None of that has worked then I would suggest the doctors. My son all i have to do is give him 1 oz. of apple and he is pooping the rest of the day.My son can't have any juice or fruit is runs through him like water. He loves apples but I have to hold out on him at times. Prune juice always worked for me but I hated it when I was a kid. I would use that as the very last resort.

Go to your drug store and give him the appropriate amount of an over the counter laxative made for children. Also, give him apple juice.

Whenever mine get backed up I give them raisins raisins and more raisins. Also try prune juice. Keep packing in the fluids.
Check with your doctor though, he may need an enima at this point.

Do you have a bm everyday? Unless he is in pain and crying or uncomfortable, let him ride it out. At this age kids are irregular. As long as he is eating good and drinking fluids let him be. Of course if it goes more than five to seven days see his doctor.

Have you taken him to the doctor? His bowels could be impacted with stool and that could make him very ill and uncomfortable.
Please have him checked if nothing is working for you.

ask your doctor if you can give him benefiber. That is what my son's dr recommended and it worked. It is tasteless and can be put in food or drinks.
