Oddly enough, yes. The company that makes Quaker Oats is or certainly was started by Quakers. A number of Quaker run companies have done very well; the way business used to be done meant that every company decision had to be agreed by every member of the board before it went ahead. Generally this means that one person couldn't just charge ahead with ideas unchallenged and safeguarded the integrity of the company.

They didn't invent proridge - its a Scots thing - but the Quaker company is certainly owned by Quakers. I always wonder what their 17th century founder George Fox would have thought and felt about his face being all over boxes of cereal and food?

It is a shame that this question is being asked and that there is such little response. Quakers founded many businesses which became quite succesful as Quakers would not cheat or lie. They also established charitable foundations, homes for the poor etc.
They are a traditional peace church, tolerant and progressive. In the forefront of many of the great social advances inc womens rights, anti slavery, anti racism, gay rights etc.
