you also need to know percentage of body fat to accurately calculate....it would not be five pounds of muscle as your body fat content would have change as well...

After 2 years you should be able to left 2 times or more the weight from when you first started. If you can you've probably agained about 3-5 pounds of muscle. I've been strengh training for a year and i can left twice the weight from when i first started, and agained 3 lbs of muscle. So your right on track it sounds like.

You need the body fat percentages as well.

body fat % * weight = total fat weight
(1 - body fat %) * weight = lean body mass

If you have the numbers, do the math both now and before you started, and you'll know how much your lean body mass and fat has changed. Note that lean body mass is not just muscle. That also includes things like bone, blood, organs, etc.

If you have been working out religiously, eating right and noticed a visible difference in your fat percentage (are you more "cut" than before?) then yes it is muscle gain. Well done!

i'm constructive that you only received muscle tissues! once you're searching to shed weight, more desirable muscle tissues is a good component before everything so that you'll burn more desirable energy even as doing a lot less. only be careful and recognize what you're searching for out of your exercising, because operating too a lot with weights will reason you to bulk up and perchance income more desirable muscle than you meant!
