Probably a sinus infection. It's kind of gross, but the throat hurts because the discharge from the sinuses drips down the throat and makes it sore. It might go away on it's own, but she's had it a pretty long time and she really should see a doctor. It's probably too severe for any home remedies to help very much.

First a decongestant to stop the mucus from running down her throat. Then some lozenges to help the throat heal.

I had strep tonsilitis couple weeks ago and the infection was behind my tonsils and so bad that antibiotics would't fully work. Doctor had to stick a needle into the tonsil and withdraw a test tube full of puss. I remained on the antibiotics and it cleared in a couple days.

yer sister might have parotitis (thats ancient phoenician for the mumps.) she might have strep throat ,a seven or 10 day virus .first ,tell parental carbon unit/s, make yer sister some chicken soup,put her in bed,put the ipod on her ears,maybe some classic led zeppelin, and she"ll bounce back in a couple days.

Might be tonsilitis. Try sucking on a throat lozenge like difflam. Otherwise, see your doctor.

Sounds like strep throat. See a doctor to get a throat culture. If strep gets bad enough it can kill a person.
