Side effects
Side effects for Vicodin include an allergic reaction, weak breathing, seizures, clammy skin, severe weakness, dizziness, unconsciousness, yellowing of eyes or skin, unusual fatigue, bleeding, or bruising, constipation, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, muscle twitches, sweating, itching, tinnitus, hearing loss, decreased urination, and decreased sex drive. [4] Vicodin (in terms of hydrocodone) also has depressant effects on the central nervous system. If you have had hives, asthma, puffy lips, and/or a runny nose or eyes, these are symptoms of a true allergy to hydrocodone. When you tell your doctor that you're allergic to Vicodin or hydrocodone, you must specify that you've had these reactions. Many people suffer from nausea after taking hydrocodone, and while it's miserable (and a good reason to try another drug) and doctors often assume that when you say you're allergic to hydrocodone you mean that it upsets your stomach. I have had doctors write prescriptions for hydrocodone under a different brand name and tell me that I won't have a problem with the drug he (in this case, the doctor was a man) prescribed. Since he wasn't the person who was going to stop breathing, I cancelled the surgery the doctor had scheduled and fired him. Allergies in adults tend to get worse over time -- you're all grown up and it's unlikely you'll "outgrow" an allergy. Any drug that has caused breathing difficulty or puffy lips is potentially fatal if you take it again. These side effects must be taken seriously. Doctors who blow off reports of drug allergies should be fired if your insurance allows it. [5] However, some of the less mundane effects can be desirable effects that are sought after by many drug addict victims. Those effects include a great euphoria and drowsiness, as well as slowing the pulse.[6] If you are truly in pain, worry about getting better -- which is helped by appropriate analgesia. Most people do not become addicted to appropriately prescribed analgesics; if you do, worry about it once your originsl medical problem has been treated. Vicodin has also been linked to causing stomach ulcers
