Im not sure about this one but he seemed to forget his "peek-a-boo" technique when he got out, would training with Rooney of kept him together or was his head already too far gone.

Brad - nearly every question we pose in this forum is a woulda, shoulda, coulda situation, virtually everything we all ask is posing questions to do with the past and things that either we cant change or will never happen, i dont know what else we are supposed to ask. All i usually want back from my question is an honest answer or opinion.

Tyson was in a bad way much of his life.
His physical power, much out weighed
his mental abilities, straight down the line.
When he lost the only person he felt he could
really rely on and Don King started doing his
little money dance. Tyson was a drowning man.
It was all over career wise, but the pain and
the humiliation.

Once Don King got a hold of him and Tyson DECIDED to go along on the "Don King ride" it wouldn't have mattered if Rooney was still in his corner or not.

Additional - Gentlemen many of you forget that Cus died in late 1985. Before he even challenged for the title. He was able to keep his head on straight until he won the heavyweight title and defended it. Cus is perceived as a saint when it comes to Tyson. If you do your digging you will find out that Cus let him get away with some pretty despicable things because he knew he had a future champion. Ask Teddy Atlas he'll tell you what really went on as far back as Tyson's early teenage years. Cus let Tyson get away with, and this is an understatement, a lot of "self indulgent" behavior.

This is a great question and I at one time thought that it would have helped Tyson but for reasons unknown to any of us Tyson would not go back under any circumstances when Cu's died that was it for Tyson it was like the first time you moved out of you parents house you were not going back that was it I don,t know if Kevin Rooney said something or did something to Tyson but what ever it was it was bad because in boxing fighters always get mad at there trainer and they always get back together but not in this case I think that Tyson did not want the discipline that Kevin would make Tyson adhere to

I believe going back to Rooney would have helped Tyson with his boxing skills and he might have went further if he had kept his head on his shoulders but I think that would have been very hard without the fatherly guidance if Gus D'Amato. I think this made a very large hole in his life because Tyson thought of Gus as a father and he was at his best with Gus D'Amato.

He would have been much better off and been the champ. I think Mike got a bum rap. He didn't rape that girl and he didn't beat Robin Givens a**. People were happy to see him fall, what a shame. He was such a great talent.

Get all that dough....than like most people you wanna chill and enjoy all the money......so you stop working hard..training.....in comparison to back in the day....when boxers....weren't making much......that why the greatest retired

Frank, I am so sick of people postulating this nonsense.
Would've, could've, should've. Fighters switch trainers all the time. It wouldn't have made any difference.
Tyson proved himself to be a coward, with no plan B, the night he decided to dine on Holyfield's ear.

*additional*

Frank - no offense intended. You are correct that much of what is posted here is hypothetical, however, this particular hypothetical is constantly posted by the deluded Tyson loyalists, most of whom are still living in the eighties.
