I have just set up my new Sony Bravia 26" TV...v nice!

I am told that I will get a much better picture from DVD player if I use Gold End heavily shrouded cables. These cable cost a fortune....so do they really make a difference.

Currys also toldme that the HDMI cable that comes with the Sky HD box is useless...and its best to spend around £60 on a special Gold ended version so as to get the much better picture. Comet have the MONSTOR cables in stock and a demo of the difference it makes....but does anyone out there have 1st hand experience of this being true, prior to me spending around £150 on new cables!!

yes they are better , if you have expensive tv you must have the matching cables, you normally find this out after buying the thing + how expensive the wall brackets are .

It sounds like snake oil, doesn't it? Cables can't improve poor signals, but they can get the best out of a good signal (and the Bravia IS good!).

The best way to see for yourself, is do a back-to-back comparison between cable A and cable B. Then you can see if there is a difference.

Don't bother with Monster cables, they're not actually very good. Check out the QED range - they keep winning awards for their top quality sound and picture.

A decent A/V dealer will allow you to take some cables home (usually for a small returnable deposit) to try at your leisure. You will notice a difference, believe me!
